Avery will go to Oakland. Al Davis loves him some speed.

The Patriots cut Merriweather. Should we take a look?

Isn't that the point? He's not good enough to make our 53 man roster. He's likely not good enough for anyone else's. And he's a 5th round pick. 5th round picks are still players that you generally want filling out your depth chart.

I'm going to guess that 5th rounders that make the final roster tend to have better chance of NFL success than those who end up on the practice squad.

I'm on it, give me a few hours.

The kid put up 1000+ yards, he at least deserves a second chance.

Keo was one of five 5th rounders that didnt make the team.

Considering the odds of 5th rounders making their respective teams, I'd say its quite a disappointment.

If it came down to Braman or Keo, I have no qualms. Braman showed some raw talent in the preseason. Keo failed to produce in the situations he was put in (returns).

He fumbled 7 times the season after that. Second chances to nice kids that have fought before is garytalk.

i was surprised they cut Adibi. He wasn't too bad in the preseason, and is also more experienced. He would've been good to keep as a backup

I was surprised by the Adibi cut as well. He looked like the type of player that might suddenly flourish when put in a different system. I was pleasantly surprised to think that the Texans didn't blow that draft pick as well, but I guess they think it was fools gold they were seeing in the preseason, because this team certainly isn't overflowing with ILB talent or anything.

I do think Adibi is a good backup LB but i'm not sure he just fit in a 3-4. He isnt a great outside pass rusher and lacks size to be a consistent run stopper.

Mister is on the Texans practice squad, so Mister could play himself on to the roster at some point.

so am I counting only 4 ILBs correctly? (Demeco, Cush, Rev Sharpton and Dobbins)

thats a bit disconcerting with the ways teams have carved us up with the run.
crazy how quickly things change in the NFL.
only two years ago that would be a position of strength.

Not to swing the conversation off-topic too wildly, but I actually read a story in either SI or ESPN a couple years back about a high school coach (and a successful one at that) that NEVER punted on fourth down. He actually had solid data that proved it was a good decision and he made a really convincing argument.

Granted, high school punters aren't near as effective as NFL or even college punters, but it was an interesting article nonetheless.

That's Kevin Kelly of Pulaski Academy in Arkansas. Here's the SI article on him:

    http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writers/jon_wertheim/09/17/no.punt/index.html

I've always been a proponent of going for it on fourth down, especially in short yardage situations.

It's been shown mathematically that a team can win between one and two games a year extra just by going for it on fourth down.

Lito sheppard was cut from the raiders, why do you think, should the texans have a look at him?

because besides the addition of Joseph, we still have the same corners from last season
