I would guess it does benefit the players, but it would just be speculation. I would imagine there wouldn't be any legal restrictions from the players essentially creating a rival basketball league, since they were locked out, not on strike.
Update/clarification from Jared Dudley's twitter page: JMZ update: by now has heard about this league @impactbball has put together Sept 12.Let me set it straight now, it's not a league!!! It's called Competitive Training Series.. NBA players will train, lift weights, and then Have OPEN games for the public to watch The Series is for 2 weeks.. Games will be played in the afternoon till the evening.. They will be a cover charge per day or week passes The money from admission will be donated to select charities.. This Tuesday we will post Names of players confirmed.. As stated earlier over 50 NBA have already been confirmed. We will Also have LIVE streaming of the games on You Tube!!!! Hope Y'all Ready!!! So glad it's going to be streamed on youtube!!
That is awesome that they're going to stream the games on YouTube. Watching Argentina demolishing teams in FIBA Americas is only enjoyable for so long.
Hey y'all, Chuck, Bud, and C-Lee will be playing on Lowry's team too! http://www.nytimes.com/2011/09/04/sports/basketball/nba-lockout-league-set-to-tip-off-in-las-vegas.html As senter said, it's a two week event starting on September 12 and will stream online. Should be pretty entertaining! Good luck to our guys!
I wonder if those four guys will be starters with just the addition of a legit C. That will be fun to watch since we've all wondered how we would've done last season with a traditional center.
He wants Kyle to be playing his best from the beginning of the season, whenever it starts. Because he is Kyle’s medical doctor and diagnosed that the back spasms he was dealing with to start off last season were from letting himself get fat.
Thanks for the interpretation. Now, please help me define 'early' as it pertains to the tip-off to the only League/games that count. Besides, if the KMc era doesn't get started it can't implode quickly and allow for a real NBA coach to assume the helm.
Lowry, Lee, Hayes, and Budinger. Cool. I'd be interested to see Kawhi Leonard play against partial-NBA competition too.
I'm definitely going to go to as many games as possible. http://www.impactbball.com/competitive-league/index.html
The fact that the four Rockets (and maybe more?) are penciled onto the same roster makes me love this idea. I want them to kick some exhibition butt.
Not really looking like it's going to be streamed after all. Boo. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/writers/sam_amick/09/11/impact.league.vegas/ Doesn't look like Chuck or Chase are playing anymore either from that full roster link in the article.
