Did the same thing to me yesterday, just tells me it can't connect, tried the rest of the night with the same error. I've deleted and reinstalled the app, playing via my PS3, and it still gives me the same error. Netflix's help on their website is useless too. Really hope it works today
I will gladly pay more for streaming if they obtain better content. But from that blog you just posted, the chances of that happening seem to be pretty bleak. I guess I'll watch as much streaming content as I can before September, then go to DVD-only. I'll keep an eye out for their next big deal with a large studio. Until then, goodbye streaming. Maybe I'll look into HBO GO. Wanted to stream The Fighter yesterday. Actually got my wife to agree to watch it with me, got comfortable in the media room, snacks and drinks prepared, then.........error message. Tried rebooting to no avail. Their website "help" section was totally useless. All it does is tell you to check your internet connection (duh). Anyway, it was back up late last night.
really I watched a lot of the 'avengers' cartoon series yesterday on my ps3 and one more episode on my phone without and issues.
Hopefully it'll be back when I try it today, kept trying for a few hours yesterday and nothing. I know what you mean about thier help section, totally useless
Thier search system is really crappy, unless you know exactly what you are looking for, I'm sure there is a ton of stuff that's on there that I'd like to see.
I noticed it was down last night for a brief moment around 830, but it partially came back up. It was working fine this morning around 7-730am.
Mine went down yesterday about 5ish and I kept trying it till around 7ish, gonna try it again when I get home, hopefully it's back up. I've only be doing the streaming for about 2 months now, is this pretty typical, occasional outages like that?
I would say no...it is not typical. I got the same error yesterday as well. I thought I would just try rebooting my 360 and trying again...but to no avail. I can't remember another time when I couldn't use the Netflix service from my Xbox 360, i.e. an outage. I remember they had some growing pains when they first deployed the service to where it would mess up...but we are long past all that. I just assumed they were performing Sunday maintenance.
I've been using it since December with no outages at all... I am streaming through my bluray player though... don't know if that makes a difference
Good to hear, keeping my fingers crossed it just works normally when I try i tonite, like I said we'd used it for 2 months straight with no issue at all till yesterday.
http://blogs.wsj.com/digits/2011/09/02/tech-today-were-taking-our-toy-story-3-back/?mod=yahoo_hs Netflix and Starz to split Pay-TV channel Starz says it will not renew its streaming deal with Netflix. The Wall Street Journal reports that Starz was asking for an increase of 10 times the licensing fee that Netflix paid in 2008. To renew the deal Netflix offered Starz more than $300 million per year, according to the Los Angeles Times, but Starz was pushing for tiered pricing, whereby Netflix subscribers who wanted Starz content would be required to pay more than the standard $8 per month. ---------------------- Probably will start happening with more companies when they start demanding higher prices.
if its true netflix offered 300million than I cant be mad at them as a company but still if come Feburary and their content sucks I am going to drop my subscription. But damn STARZ for being greedy bastards. Hope they crash and burn.
Well, that sucks. I'll be canceling soon. Just setup a nice VPN, use Warez-BB and download stuff Stream to the PS3 using playstation media server.
Yea...it seems like all the studios were fine putting some of their content up in the early days of streaming. But, now that it takes off they are wanting huge dollars. So, if Netflix dropping...versus adding...content is all we have to look forward to as subscribers, then I will stick with PPV and DirecTV On-Demand. In other words, after subscribing to Netflix for several years, I'm on the verge of canceling my just-raised-to $27 a month plan. Isn't "The Fighter" a Starz flick? Starz serves up some new movies every once in a while that aren't bad. But, online content is still severely lacking imo. It sucks because it used to be the technology wasn't there and, now that the technology is perfected to stream this, the content isn't there or is drying up. It would be nice if there was one online streaming service that had everyone on-board but I don't see that ever happening at this rate.
It'll be hard to get everyone on board, especially considering how American ISP's have bandwidth caps.
Can someone explain to me why Netflix's business model isn't shaky? What's preventing networks and studios from raising prices to the point Netflix would struggle? Also, ISPs that are also cable companies are implementing caps that should harm Netflix, right? Tell me why Netflix isn't a house of cards ready to collapse at some point. I also don't understand why Google, Apple and whoever else are interested in paying a bunch of money for Hulu.com.
I cancelled my streaming also. Netflix just doesn't have enough interesting content to maintain my monthly fee to them. It sucks, but it is what it is.
