Especially when he can keep crapping on his fanbase's face and they keep eating it up, just look at the sales number when this box set comes out.

I've never been a big SW fan to begin with but damn it's got to suck for diehards.

    Milla Jovovich

Edit: I also think Jason Isaacs (Tavington from The Patriot) would be perfect as Thrawn.

You just made the list ;)

    About to look up Isaacs.

EDIT: Isaacs would be fine. I remember reading about Jeremy Irons as a good cast for Thrawn several years ago.

I think the main thing is to make him a British actor.

Brits do well as villains in America.

Although honestly, I never saw Thrawn as a villain.

When Ruhk (had to look up the proper spelling)
    stabbed
    Thrawn, I was very sad.

You know, if he CGI-adds an E.T. Jedi into Episode 4, I will be tickled pink.

Oh! oh! oh! E.T. and Jar-Jar Adventures, featuring those dumb kids from the Ewok movies! Gold, Jerry, gold!

    You won't be sorry.

I'm a Star Wars nerd, and I can tell you that the movies come nowhere close to the expanded universe.

Other EU fans will back me up on that.

You know how people say, "The movie wasn't as good as the book"?

In this case, it's just as true, but the thing is that the books came after the movies.

    George Lucas can eat it.

Other people improved his "story" to a ridiculous extent.

What list? LOL Anyway, I repped you for being a fellow Thrawn fan!

I echo your opinion. I think Irons is too over dramatic to play Thrawn. Thrawn is calculating and cold. As for whether he was a villain, he was in the sense that he had no problem killing, but I'm with you that I don't really see him as a bad leader. The way he was written, there was no reason to think he would have been a bad person to run the galaxy if you get passed the whole "democracy" thing. :)

I'm a big Star Wars nerd as well and prefer the EU at this point to Lucasvision. His total reeming of the Star Wars mythos with the midichlorian crap and the toddler Anakin...ugh ugh ugh ugh ugh! I pretend that stuff doesn't exist.

to the poster who hasn't read the Thrawn trilogy, definitely do it! You can get the whole series on Amazon for like 10 bucks.

I'll second (3rd? 4th?) the Thrawn books. Timothy Zahn did a fantastic job.

I was a life-long fan until the prequels, I was downright irate with his retooling of the originals, and I'm now simply not surprised that Lucas continues to crap on something that was very near and dear to me. It makes me sad. Eff that guy.

I think maybe I made my edit at the same time you were making your post.

Either way, look at the bottom of the second page for your answer ;)

Much love to a fellow Star Wars nerd.

I'm still mad that they killed off Anakin and Mara Jade, turned Jacen to the dark side, and had Jaina kill him.

Maybe because as a kid, reading the YJK series, I never saw Jacen going bad.

Reading the NJO series, it's fairly obvious.

Still can't believe they killed Jacen and Chewie.

You can still enjoy the books, even knowing the characters' ultimate fate.

I'll let you figure out exactly when they die ;)

    Happy reading!

    LOL WHOA SPOILERS!!!

The death of the character who rips people's arms out of their sockets was really hard for me.

Haha I see your edit now. You don't think Jovovich could play the role?

Famke Jansen could do the role probably.

I just feel like she's kind of wooden and s***ty, but that she's become Hollywood's go-to action redhead.

I wouldn't mind seeing what Jansen would do with it.

Damn Luke can't catch a break. I stopped reading about 3-4 books into the series a few years back, but I'm very enticed to see Jacen turn bad. Is it worth reading the full 19 novels?

I read this thread yesterday and became a little intrigued by Thrawn series so I stopped Half-Price and grabbed the books. I came back to note this with those who had posted about the series...

I will now begin my international manhunt for Ender120 and the results will not be pretty.
