Nah, sorry, it pretty much has to be one or the other. This logic chain makes no sense: 1. We're staying evben though we know LHN wll exist. 2. LHN has an unfair advantage because they show HS games! We're leaving.. 3. NCAA: LHN can't show HS games or even highlights of HS games! 4. We're leaving because LHN has unfair advantage P.S. LHN's unfair advantage isn't going to be manifested because it's a failure. Maybe they actually don't know it will be a failure, and this is just idle internet jabber - do you suppose that's a possibility?
Of course that logic chain doesn't make sense - because you just made it up. LHN can easily be a recruiting advantage and still a failure as a network - there is no inconsistency there. A&M is leaving because they want to leave. They wanted to leave last year, and feel like they made a mistake in staying. The LHN, and Texas' attempts to put HS games and then conference games on it, just served as an instigator to push A&M over the edge. It would be stupid for A&M to just stay and see how it all plays out, given that who knows what the opportunities will be like a year or two or five from now. They have the opportunity to resolve all their concerns and move on, so they are taking it.
Really? Do you think I made it up? Do you think either the school administration and/or Texas A&M Aggie internet brigade did not say any and all of those things? I mean 1-3 are basically a matter of public record, do you think it's that hard to find an example of 4 & 5? tipjar bet? $20?
also you forget after the NCAA ruled no high school games they said fine we will just show highlights. Which I personally think is worse because then high school kids and their parents can and will actually watch them. Every time a bar gets set LHN just pushes it further which I in no way fault UT for, this is not about TAMU vs UT it's about TAMU vs BIG 12. The Big 12 now that TAMU is leaving wants to form committees and get new people in.... but ask yourself this why did this not happen after last year when Nebraska left? Why did the Big 12 not realize they were getting poached and go after BYU and ND to help strengthen the conference and keep their member institutions? In my opinion that is all the "real" reason to leave a crap conference run by a commissioner too scared to make any real decision because he holds no real power. The blame is not on UT the blame is on Bebe and the Big 12. UT just got what they could, now TAMU is doing the same thing. Its not personal its just business.
I completely disagree with the viability of the conference part, there is no stability... why did Nebraska leave? they have not had 100 years of being Texas's "little brother" as everyone says. Ask yourself this, now that Texas A&M is gone who do you think holds more weight in the decision to add another school? Honestly answer that. If you are OU do you have any problem with UH getting in or SMU or TCU? No, you increase viewership in the Dallas and Houston markets two of the largest in the country. But if you are Texas do you worry about those schools? And i would be willing to be neither of those schools stands a chance because they are a threat to Texas. It's not about beating Texas now, because the won't but it is about the potential those schools have in a major conference. BYU stands a chance because they are of no threat to Texas recruiting wise and actual football wise. That is in no way UT fault if they have the steering wheel you might as well drive. But that is the Big 12's fault for helping create an environment nobody wants to live in.
Not really, since they'll be fighting with Oklahoma for the second tier of Texas recruits, if recent trends are any indication.
in person...at a game...i've never been around more classless fans than i saw at arkansas events. and i say that as someone who married a little rock girl and thinks highly of his razorback in-laws. that aside, i've been locked down putting out fires all day for clients and learned about A&M's announcement all of about 10 minutes ago. apparently i have a lot of catching up to do! i will be billing all of my time to groogrux, of course.
While I find the big 12 at fault for seemingly all of this. I would like to site one example of why schools like Texas A&M, Neb, and Colorado are leaving and blaming UT on the way out. The simple fact is Texas is refusing to play TAMU as of now and this just screams the "if they won't play by our rules then get out" philosophy that everyone is complaining about. If you disagree then please tell me how it is not? Out of all of this, this is the one thing I blame Texas for and it makes me sad that the Thanksgiving day rivalry will not happen.
http://blog.chron.com/sportsjustice...vered-themselves-in-glory-in-this-whole-deal/ Money aside, Texas’ refusal to continue to play Texas A&M looks petty beyond words. It’s as if since Texas A&M refused to play by Texas’ rules, Texas is going to take its football and go home.
Which do you want? multiple writers with inside knowledge have stated this. Richard Justice a Texas Alum being the most recent. http://blog.chron.com/sportsjustice...vered-themselves-in-glory-in-this-whole-deal/
