Decent career means average, and he's been below it.

he's been about half way to 1000 yards most seasons and about halfway to 100 receptions most seasons...that's about as average as you can get.

The average NFL career is 3.2 years according to the union and 6 years for players who make NFL Roster on opening day of rookie season according to the NFL. By both measures, he has been decent enough for teams to hold onto him than give a guy drafted in the 6th or 7th round a shot.

exactly. And he's actually produced some for those teams. I mean, the guy isnt great or anything but to feel the need to point out and laugh at mention that the guy has had a decent career is way a bit much. It's not like the guy said Charles Rogers had a decent career or anything.

Let's compromise and say he's had an "okay" career as a supporting member of the passing game. He's not someone you'd want as more than a 3rd option slot guy but he can get you some production.

He was brought in here to push for 4th or 5th reciever spot, which is a nice spot for him. But, there's no gurantee he even makes it past the final cut. He'll be fighting with UDFA for that spot. I stand by my statement that he's below average.

certainly not who you want as your 3rd option guy but for a 4th or 5th, you could do worse. He brings in known element, where as Dickerson and whichever young WR gets the nod does not bring.

it's all relative. For a 2nd or 3rd WR he is below average at this point in his career....but for a 4th and likely 5th WR, he is not below average

Your original statement was in regards to Bryant's career being below average...not what kind of receiver he is at this moment.

When you look at his career, he's been average. You cant argue with the numbers, they are as average as it gets.

I think it's definitely fair to call him average, or even a little better than "average."

    He's can contribute for sure.

The few years (3) he had a good pass system in Arizona he averaged about 600 yards and 3TDs as a 3 or 4th guy behind two of the best in the game. I'd say he'll be a decent 4th guy in our system, i think he'll probably push Jacoby too seeing as how hes been this preseason.

What's the love affair everyone has with Joe Flacco and Eli Manning? I'm going off what Clayton wrote for espn today. I think Schaub is in the top 10 range for sure now.

Schaub needs to make playoff noise.

There's a good wealth of writers out there that put nearly half their stock in postseason accomplishments.

Here's what he wrote about Schaub:
So in other words, if the Texans had a better defense (and perhaps a better head coach/GM), Schaub would be ranked higher. Wait, what?

I keep hearing people wanting Schaub to become an elite QB but I just don't think he can reach that level or needs to. He is surrounded by an Elite WR, Elite RB, Elite TE, Elite OL and Elite offensive mind...name another QB with those weapons? Brees, Manning, Rivers and Rodgers don't need all that because they are great but being pretty good is enough with this team. My only issue with him is the few mental mistakes he makes do tend to happen in bad spots but his pretty pretty good.

Schaub is fine. Only problem was the slow starts, it always seemed like the third quarter before the offense decided to chow up.

You can't fault Schaub for having weapons, just like nobody faults Montana for having Rice. It's what you do with the weapons you have, and Schaub leads this offense to amazing numbers year after year. They've been elite for a while now, and Schaub is right there in the middle of it. He's in the top 10 easily IMO.

Schaub isn't the type of QB to carry a team on his back ala Peyton Manning, he isn't the athletic type or rocket arm like Vick nor the toughness like Big Ben, so yes he needs a well rounded team around him. If he doesn't have the that one "It" factor that separates him from the others, then it's his cerebral factor and not making mistakes that will be his calling card, like the Brad Johnsons or Trent Dilfers of the world that were SB QBs. The main questions I have now is his big game performance, Texans haven't been in too many big games to judge him by, but I keep wondering that he'll make a gaffe (INT/fumble) at the most inopportune time.
