I'm not Vietnamese, but I assume it's a language deal. However I'm sure the owners have gotten advice from friends and acquaintances regarding the pun, but are just too stubborn to change. Honestly I wouldn't necessarily go to a restaurant just because they have a funny sounding name. I'd drive by and laugh, but not go in.
I'm Viet. There's no need for these names, they're doing it for marketing ploys usually, although maybe not Bich Nga, as that is a common enough name.
Marketing ploy? Notsureifsrs.jpg 90% of these names are legit with the exception of maybe pho king way. Phat phuoc is more than likely a vegetarian restaurant because phat with the accent mark means Buddha.
I'm Vietnamese and I can tell you that most Pho places try to come up with really creative or cheezy names for themselves. This one just isn't one of them. The pronunciation for this sounds far far different from what you take it in English.
Not even close brochacho. Its hard to explain though because the english language does not have accent marks.
This. Man I tried to say that restaurant's name in my head over and over again and I still don't see how these guys get fat f-ck from it hahah. I guess it have a lot to do with me being Vietnamese though.
