i think trader_jorge went out on his own, i think he has come back as several versions. usually i don't get into discussions like this about other posters, but i have to give trader props on one thing, he went out on post #9,999. that's hilarious, especially it coinincided with barack's election or at least in the time period
Speaking of coming back, here I am ... again. After 25 days in the hospital since June 10 and an epic move back to Houston, I am almost ready to get back into the D&D fray.
Go for it, Thumbs, if that is what your heart says. Of course, take care of your relations with loved ones first. Of course, take care of your health, too. Hey, the internets can be entertaining.
D & D is one of the most left leaning sites I have found on the internet. I am sure there are some, but, wow, there is very little balance here. I view myself as a Libertarian leaning Independent, formerly a Democratic Leadership Council type and I can't relate to most posts here. The "spin" is so intense it makes me dizzy. I think I am just going to stay away.
If you are a Libertarian you would probably have more in common with the Republican party anyways. Sure, the majority of posters on here lean to the left. Some lean wayyyyy too far to the left and aren't here to debate anything (ie: glynch). With that being said, the large majority of topics/threads on this board are insulting jabs from the right to the left. If you find a poster insulting and makes you want to leave the D&D... just use the ignore function!
If you call an equal mindshare between Republican and Democrat ideas a "balance", then you're going to be sorely disappointed. Republican promoted ideas mostly suck ass. Believe it. If you deny the Bush years, then you know Republican ideas suck ass deep down inside. Democrat execution of its own ideas can reap terrible consequences. I'd say Libertarians follow that same vein. Republicans, however are pretty good at marshalling forces and getting things done, for better or worse. No one's asking you to relate. The atmosphere in here is intense, but there are members like Haymitch and to a lesser extent Weslinder, who talk about libertarian ideas that many here disagree out of practical execution, but will respond with a more thought than a stupid knee jerk reply. If you have something new to offer, then it's everyone's gain...
Weslinder and Haymitch both speak respectfully, and provide thoughtful insight and support for their philosophies. I disagree with them on most issues, but I like reading their posts, and wish they'd post more.
I don't get it? Why does this place lean left? If you disagree, post more not less. I think the GARM leans anti-McGrady, so if I see a McGrady-bashing post (and I have the time and energy), I post the countervailing argument. Much like the D&D, talking to a McGrady-basher is like talking to a brick wall, but I don't want visitors thinking we all hate McGrady. I don't leave the GARM just because it's filled with ingrates who don't appreciate what a special player McGrady was and what a tragedy it was that his knee fell apart. (No offense McGrady-bashers. )
