112 degrees yesterday in Austin, and it felt every bit like 112! It was hard to breath out there on a parking lot. My eyes were burning from the freakin' temperature. Hell, I'm a Texas native, grew up in Houston barefooted every summer (pre-Fire Ants), could handle concrete because of the calluses, if I moved fast, so I've always considered myself immune to summer weather here, but this is too much. This is Phoenix, Arizona kind of heat. Crazy heat. INSANE heat!

If there is a Supreme Being, give us a cold front! Hell, a cool front! And some rain, if you don't mind.

    You're older than fire ants?

I'd take anything in double digits as a high for now. I had a soccer game at 1 pm yesterday in Round Rock and it was just brutal.

Sadly, yes. Sad about being this old, glad that I could have what I consider a normal childhood, sans fire ants. I grew up in the 1950's. The only ants you had to worry about were the wimpy little red ants that the fire ants had for a snack. It killed me to make sure that my kids always wore shoes when they went outside, even in our own backyard. We had Houston Toads in the neighborhood ditches. Now the fire ants have made them endangered, as they have so many other little critters. Houston Toads can no longer be found in Houston. Heck, I used to have Horny Toads for pets. Fire ants have nearly put them out of business.

Fire Ants are the embodiment of evil!

So sorry that you throw that up front of your faux concern. Again, I remind you to recall all your smug responses of this sort when things aren't so perfect in perfect-town.

Are you trolling weather.com to send your condolences along with your perfect weather report to all those in the hurricane as well?

No. But Groogrux loves San Francisco and plans to move here when the time is right, so a little bit of ribbing between the two of us is what has happened in this thread where you clearly overreacted and now its evident that you hate where you live as well and you are miserable. Do something about it.

Since I've seen you post this type of thing before (maybe to him, but maybe not, how would I know) it just seemed to me you were being a jerk. I live in Austin, it's hot, but it's all good. Thanks for your concern.

Holy crap, we got some rain. And it looks like 1 more week of 100's before we return to nice, cool 96 degree weather!
