Why don't you ask OU fans? Spoiler Real answer: they're in no hurry. They'll get plenty of offers when the time comes.
I suppose there's a group of kids for whom that would be attractive...I just don't think that's ever been an impediment for Texas kids with ridiculous football talent wanting the SEC experience
That's not the real answer at all. They are with Texas. Texas is with OU. Just because aggie fans hate being around texas doesn't mean everyone else is. Leave for your own reasons but don't project those reasons on others.
1. If you think the College Station only has 3 bars, you didn't pay any attention. There are 3 bars on Northgate...that does not include all the bars on Texas Avenue or Harvey Road. 2. If you base your evaluation on the number of bars per capita, that is more telling about you than it is about the town. 3. B/CS has over 140,000 permanent residents and is rapidly growing. It isn't exactly like living in some tiny blip on the map in West Texas.
2012 blue chip LB Dalton Santos committed to Tennessee over A&M a few months ago because he wanted to play in the SEC. Now that A&M appears to be joining the SEC, some analysts expect him to switch his commitment to A&M. Just one example, but if there is one, there are likely others.
TAMU has a top 10 class coming in. SEC will help. Even if it doesn't, like I said, top 10 class coming in... possibly top 5 when its said and done. Not sure why people don't think they can bring in talent if they move.
Well of course. OU is not going to break away from their biggest rivalry that easily. All I'm saying is that OU can *easily* get into another conference should they choose to. They have plenty of reasons to stand pat and keep the Big XII alive. And I'm not projecting ****. Majority of aggie fans love the move for the wrong reasons. And they're getting plenty of hate thanks to what's being said at texags.
It will be lame to not have the UT v. A&M every year. Hopefully Houston gets the spot, but ND would make epic money.
This is assuming they want to go to College Station. The option to stay in state and go to College Station instead of say, going a few hours out of state and going to Baton Rouge really isn't that appealing of an option. I mentioned this earlier and this is just my opinion (just going off the kids I know), but the pool of talent that wants the SEC but just refuses to leave the state isn't that large. Not large enough for all of the comments about how much going to the SEC will help A&M recruiting. On top of that, that pool narrows even further when the town of choice is College Station. In most cases, since this is football, these are young black males that we are talking about recruiting. And the town location and school atmosphere is going to narrow that pool. Most kids that want the SEC just go to the SEC. Texas exports talent like no other place. Not to mention one of the primary reasons to stay in state is so your family can see more of your games (more road games are close by) and going to the SEC actually makes it harder for some of these kids families to see road games.
Again, Aggies have a top 10 class coming in. Maybe top 5. Going to the SEC could help recruiting AND EVEN IF IT DOESN'T -- again, they are doing fine recruiting....... What is this black male stuff? TAMU has more black students than UT does for example... Suckers.
The only reason I say "but it's College Station" is because folks are commenting on how much of a recruiting advantage A&M will now have since they can offer kids the SEC. In that case, "but it's College Station" does matter because you have to recruit kids to want to come there. I think it's fair to say quite a few kids put fun environments at the top of their list. I understand everyone has different tastes but I feel comfy saying College Station won't rank at the top of the list for SEC campuses/towns. Especially not for young, mostly black athletes. This is not a bashing post. Some places just aren't at the top of the list for "fun". Houston isn't either, and I love the city. If a kid is just dying for the SEC I don't see most kids choosing College Station over nearby LSU. I can be at conservative A&M in the middle of nowhere, but within a short drive to Houston, Dallas and Austin....or I can be at partytown LSU with Southern down the street and a short drive to New Orleans (where Dillard and Xavier are). That's why I say "but it's College Station".
He's not black, right? The average football player will be a young black male. That's the average kid that you need to convince to come to College Station over some of these other schools/towns. I need to clarify and note that I'm not trying to sound like a racist but race does play a part in this. I just don't think the pool of stud athletes who just refuse to leave the state but want the SEC is that large and I think that pool definately shrinks when you talk about convincing some of these schools to pick a conservative, in the middle of nowhere A&M over other SEC options. Now if that kid just refuses to leave the state....yeah.
The Aggies do have a top class coming in, mainly comrpised of Texas students. If your comment is that going to the SEC will really help A&M recruiting then that means A&M will be landing a pool of students that they weren't before. IE kids who only want to play in the SEC. I am assuming if a kid only wants to play in the SEC then he isn't going to A&M already, right? So the question now revolves around convincing a kid to come to A&M over those other SEC schools. I hope that makes sense. Now tell me why A&M is a easier sell than LSU. And if you are asking me what is this black male stuff as it relates to College Station, then you clearly aren't black. Again, being real and not racist.
I'll admit my post was made somewhat out of frustration as I get fairly annoyed hearing over and over again "Lol, but it's still College Station". I understand your point but do see it as a different strokes for different folks. I don't see it as an absolute.
I sound like an ass by saying conservative, in the boonies A&M probably won't be considered at the top of the list over other SEC colleges/towns? No, I sound realistic and honest. I guess those who say Miami is a partytown and Houston isn't sound like asses too....
