Great at bat by Schafer Also, has Philly picked up Roy's option for 12? If so would they? I can easily see them say no and Oswalt signing with the Cards next season. Could you imagine Roy and Berkman with the Cards winning a WS?
I'm sure they haven't and won't. I believe it would be at about $16 mil. My guess is that Roy takes the small buyout and hangs 'em up after this season.
I think the Cards need more than a deteriorating Oswalt to get to the WS. Still, Berkman and Oswalt together again would be both exhilarating and depressing, especially if they contributed to a stellar season.
Send him to the DL and call up Wallace (who will probably be called up anyways on 9/1). Also Downs has played some first.
he didn't know it was called a strike and saw the guy breaking for 2nd because the ball got away. and he was in front of the batter and ump picking the ball up and had no way of looking at the 1st base ump and see him making the call that he swung. crazy play.
Didn't the hitter make contact though with 2 strikes? It couldn't have been a ball. I have it on mute but it looked like there was contact on a check swing.
I like Schafer's approach at the plate. Something that none of our other young hitters seem to do much of (take pitches).
