They better not be shoehorning LHN into my basic cable package like what ESPN is trying to do. When that happens, bye bye Comcast.
I think you are missing the point. There are some kids who want to stay in state, but they leave the state to play in the SEC. If there were an SEC school in state, be it Texas, A&M, or Tech, they would stay in state. That is the advantage. You can stay close to home AND play in the SEC.
I lived in college station for 5 years and yes it can bore you at times but I was still always an hour or two away from houston, san antonio, austin, I think it's perfect that it is in the the middle of all 3 cities. I also don't understand how people can not see this movement as a positive from the A&M side. Why would we want to be in a conference where one team is able to dictate the way the conference operates. Texas is bigger than the big12, and they are doing what is best for them. I have no problem with that just don't bother us when we are trying to do what is best for us. We still want to play Texas and keep the tradition so why can't everyone just move along.
-A&M fans like the move for the wrong reasons -UT fans just want to see A&M fail in general (even if they stayed in the Big XII) -Most other Big XII schools have few if any options if the conference breaks up
I liked living in College Station - and I actually didn't want to go to a school that was downtown in a major city. So what's your point.
I'm sorry man. It's been busy at work and I had to drop a lot of money to get Colts tickets. I'll be in contact as soon as I can get someone in houston to meet you.
Generally this is said by people who haven't spent more than 15 minutes in B/CS. The fact is that it is actually a nice little town. There is a ton more there now than when I went there 20 years ago. Besides, is College Station so much duller than Tuscaloosa or Gainsville?
Maybe an announcement next week. http://espn.go.com/college-sports/s...-announce-plans-leave-big-12-according-report
All the other conferences have been around A LONG TIME. Thats the main difference. All the issues about "stability" is based on that reason alone, making the Big 12 look like a bunch of mercenaries. If the Southwest Conference was still around, it'd be 2nd oldest major conference after the Big 10, 20 years older than the SEC. Why no more Southwest Conference? Because all the programs were corrupt and had bad business practices, both A&M and UT being the ringleaders. After forming the Big 12, UT has become a monster and A&M's being doing it the "fair" way? A&M is doing things "fair" now cuz they were cheating TOO MUCH previously Not our fault the entire STATE of TEXAS planted these seeds in the Big 12 from the start. Basically yeah, the Big 12 "is what it is".
the point is its college station. Literally the most miserable place i've ever been. I mean I understand liking living there if your the rancher type, but after living in Austin and going there, Jesus, I wouldn't wish living there onto anyone
Come on, be real with me. Do you think that without LHN your provider won't raise rates anyway? You are a darling man with a soft loving embrace and a fair disposition. I am fearful for the provider who scorns you and your powerful position.
There are a lot of people who like small towns. Some grow up in small towns and are happier there than they would be elsewhere. Live and let live.
To each his own. I loved living in College Station. I lived there for 5 years. It had everything I needed, wasn't too big. I HATE Austin drivers, and traffic......which is why I'm always miserable when I'm in Houston (as much as I love the city). I live in East Texas now. And this place is pretty damn miserable when it comes to necessities, but I do love all the forests.
I grew up in Houston and came back to Houston after going to A&M. Anyway, the small town feel isn't for everybody. I get that. What I don't understand is the persistent "But it's College Station" mentality that a few posters here have continually harped on. Not everyone wants to go to school/live in a major metropolitan area. For school, I didn't. I'll quiet back down though and let those of you who have been go back to denouncing College Station.
Im not hating on that. I respect that you enjoyed your time in College Station. But i dreaded my time there. I accept that we are probably from different backgrounds and accept different things as cool, but again, after living in Austin for many years, college station was literally like the most miserable place ive ever been, compared to ATX. Im sorry, CS has like 3 bars its an f'ing joke
