but the guy has been blessed to coach a lot of very talented players, something that is conveniently overlooked....off the top of my head... Jordan, Rodman, Shaq, Kobe, Pippen
If you are a scrub and no other team gives you minutes, go to Aldeman's team. No matter how much you suck, he will continue to let you suck. He is a players coach, just laugh at his jokes, agree with what ever he says and boom you've got playing time. Proof - Brooks, Hill, Bud, Miller. However, if you have more then just one dimension to your game - forget playing for Aldeman. Proof - Lowry, Lee, Patterson, T-Will.
No... he completely missed my point. Adelman has had some very good players over the years, and he has won nothing. Phil has had better players, but he has 11 titles... quite an accomplishment. Phil, Red, Daley and others are on a different level than Rick... they are all time greats.... Rick is a good coach, but not in that special class.
We all know that you don't win championships with "very good players." You win with GREAT players (and a lot of luck). How many GREAT players did Adelman ever have?
You cant compare the players that Phil, Red, Daley had, with the players that Adelman had. If you switch Adelman with Phil Jackson, do Phil Jackson still wins 11 titles?? or even one?
Phil Jackson had 4 of the greatest 50 players in the history of the league, and arguably 3 of the top 10 players of all time. I bet if he had Michael Jordan, Shaq, and Kobe, Adelman would have had AT LEAST 8 rings.
Bud doesn't deserved to be mentioned with scrubs like hill and twill still has to a lot to prove to be considered as promising as lee or patsquatch
It is a pretty good fit, although we'll see about Rubio. Adelman's system really favors shooting PGs and we know Rubio has struggles there, but PGs have become a lot better under Rick so we'll see. But Love is the perfect fit for him. A younger, better Luis Scola...well better sometimes, not when Luis is in beast mode of course. No one better when Luis is in Beast Mode
The whole league did him dirty, he is still unemployed. The lakers,Miami,ny.... Passed up on him. Damn ipad2 keeps messing my typing.
The Rockets didn't treat him well, that's for sure. He did a helluva job and players loved him. Unfortunately he believed and wanted to win asap, the Roxs front office wanted to develop assets. I wish him all the luck in the world, until he plays the Roxs of coarse. Good things are gonna happen in Minny, they'll be pleased.
I think the Rockets are p*****s in how they deal with coaches etc, they pussyfoot around and make things untennable instead of just saying... "Hey Rick, we want to go the developmental route, you really don't fit that here, and we understand, good luck to you" Instead they try to force him to hire coaches and give him no say, just man up and tell the truth.....stop cowering behind nuance. It is much better to be bluntly honest, much more respect is earned that way. Ever since Les took over he has been an underhanded boss......backhanded compliments, forcing good coaches out, pure, straight up pussified management. DD
Minnesota's entire roster besides Miller and Ridnour is under the age of 26...so let's put to rest this "developmental route" myth already. Adelman is obviously willing to develop players and he's good at it too -- lots of players have developed and had the best years of their career under him. If Leslie was being completely and bluntly honest he'd have to admit that firing Adelman has no basis whatsoever.
