Just because CDMA is not popular through-out the entire world doesn't mean it's not good. For a technical standpoint, CDMA is hands down the best. Cell capacity, tower hand-off, better building penetration. I could go on and on but most people wouldn't understand.
Also most people don't realize if you have Sprint you have access to free roaming on VZW. Granted you're not going to get Verizon 3g, but you'll get service.
I've been with T-Mobile for 4 1/2 years and I've never had issues with service. When I had consistent problems with slow network, it was always the phone, and any time I called customer service they always took care of me. Even still, I knew I was paying too much for the plan I had and was afraid to renew/extend my contracts because of the merger. So, I just called to ask when my contracts expire and I was told that even if I re-up now, if the merger happens, I'll have 30 days to opt out of my contract without the early termination fee. I went ahead and switched to an unlimited family plan and saved myself about $50/mo and I don't have to worry about overages anymore. On top of that, they gave me a $100 credit that covered the previous months overages. I'm pretty happy for now.
What follows is a cool story, bro: So after my Vibrant broke, I went to the T-Mobile store and they said they'd get me a replacement phone ($20 fee). This was cool of them to do, as my phone was less than a year old, so it was still under Samsung's warranty, but I bought it on the aftermarket, so they had no obligation. After they sent me my new phone, I sent back the old broke one, and promptly cancelled my service (1 day before I was due to be billed again, lulz) and switched to Virgin Mobile. Got myself the LG Optimus. Nice little phone. Does everything I need it to do, at least. Screen could be a little sharper/bigger, but other than that, no complaints. Also, $35 a month for unlimited text/data with 300 mins is a deal. Only problem is Virgin started throttling bandwidth recently for users who go over 2.5GB. Either way, I'm really happy and glad I made the switch. Plus I have a brand new Vibrant that I get to sell now.
Does Virgin Mobile allow you to tether a laptop to the phone? If so, you are stealing from them at $35/month.
It'll be interesting to see if Sprint puts the iPhone on the same 79.99 plan as others, if so. That's a pretty good price plan, even though it ends up being about $100 with tax lol
Going to jump ship to Sprint tomorrow. They better not take away unlimited data if the iphone hits. That is pretty much the only reason I'm even going with them.
If that's the case, and if you do get it tomorrow then you will be most likely not have to worry about anything. You'll be grandfathered in
That's the same thing that happens to mine here in Dallas. I've been with tmobile for over 9 years and have been with them so long because they were the cheapest, but you get what you pay for. My contract ends 9/6/11 and I'm more than likely moving to Sprint. I may wait for the iphone5 and swap it out with my daughter as she has the EVO...
