I'd rather be bored for half the season and winning, especially since routing another team can be exciting. Playing in a BCS bowl or for a title at the end of the year is pretty exciting as well.

Edit: As a reference point, playing in the AFC South has sucked for the Texans. I would have received much more excitement being in the NFC West last year and making the playoffs. Big bowl games and competing for a title > exciting regular season schedule.

Because dominating the MWC won't get you an automatic BCS game and potentially put you in the NC game. Major difference. I don't think the Sooners or Longhorns wish they had a harder path to BCS games over the past decade.

10 of those wins came during the Sherrill/Slocum years when you the Aggs got put on probation twice and were about a millimeter away from the death penalty.

Don't throw that crap out there, he is just baiting you.

All I gotta ask is how many conference championships and national championships does A&M have?

Enjoy the basement of the SEC aggies, so glad I won't ever have to visit college station again after this year.

UT fans are SOOOOOOOOO butthurt over the Aggies leaving. Damn man let it go!!!

I would say its not you...its us....to help ease the pain you're feeling over our leaving you.

But that would be a lie.

We are leaving because it IS you.

I'd rather be middle of the pack in the best conference in America than top of one of the worst. Have fun beating scrub schools.

Baylor's not likely to ever win the B12 though. The MWC champ the last several years has made it to a BCS Bowl. Baylor has a MUCH better shot there than in the Big12.

Last I checked, SMU and Houston aren't in the Big 12 and schools like Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Oklahoma State, etc. are...

Yes, but if 8 of the 12 teams in your conference are ranked, you're going to have fewer of them. Going into last year, there wasn't a single ranked team on UT's home schedule. As it turned out, Texas wasn't very good and teams like Baylor and A&M ended up ranked so the games turned out pretty good, but looking at the schedule from day 1, it was as boring as could be. We follow that up with this year's home schedule having exactly 1 ranked team as of today.

If Texas were still a top 5 team like it's been for a while, these would all be absolutely terrible games to go out and watch, with backups playing much of the second half trying to run out the clock in all of them.

Congrats to all Horns in securing the massive deal with FiOS. I heard Verizon is looking to add another apartment complex to their coverage map and thus tripling coverage.

A&M fans will be the reason that I root for OU big time for the first time ever.

It really is amusing that Aggies keep saying that so and so are butt hurt about them leaving. No, it's that y'all are leaving with no class by trashing the conference you called home for quite some time. Aggies are really milking this 15 mins...hey look at us...we're so gnarly..the SEC wants us!! They also wanted Vanderbilt.

Make some noise in that conference and then people will take notice. You have nothing to beat your chest about yet. This doesn't take A&M out of the shadows of UT or OU. All it does is put A&M in the shadows of Bama, FL, Auburn, LSU, Georgia, etc until they win the division.

Until a playoff system is in place, it simple doesn't make sense for OU or Texas to challenge themselves. Play a mediocre schedule, win a mediocre conference and play for the National Title. Win the red river shootout, and you make a beeline for the title game. OU is in the same situation as AM, but you don't see them threatening to bolt.

The SEC is tough, but why play a tough schedule when you don't have to. The aggies honestly aren't thinking national titles, so going to the SEC makes sense.

If a playoff existed, maybe a system could be in place to truly reward teams for running a gauntlet, but it isn't there now.

    BCS game=big money

1996, the youngest and most unstable BCS conference. Give me a break.

You're right. 15 years isn't a long time. How long have these schools been in the same conference though?

The SWC conference is dead. i would love for it to come back, but it isn't. Don't look down on A&M fans for being happy their school is looking out for itself.
