The Big 12 would be lucky to get those schools. 2/3 of those schools anyways. Right now if I'm a college football fan, I'm looking at Texas playing ISU, KU, KSU, Rice?, Tulane?, Baylor, and I'm like man... that's weak.

notre dame won't be independent forever and they might as well join a conference where they can keep their nbc partnership.

Still an improvement over the Big East.

ND would be huge for the Big 12. They should have gone after ND and BYU when Nebraska left. Better yet, before they left. Now they're just throwing darts trying to keep the conference on life support so OU/UT can coast.

The Big East is a basketball conference. Cincinnati went undefeated recently and didn't get a title game shot, if I'm not mistaken. That puts you back in the MWC territory.

TCU. Notre Dame. The Big 12-3 remains as the second best football conference. Is BYU rumored to the conference too?

All I know is that it's too early to speculate. We know the conference will be aggressive in adding schools.

Enjoy those deuces in the MWC in a few years! ... That is if they decide to take a team that has to worry about whether or not they can sell enough tickets to take the tarp off the seats for a game against TCU!

    Hahahahaha!

We'll see if A&M fans will be laughing when they're a sub 500 team year in and year out.

Won't happen, but don't worry, I'll still be laughing about Baylor getting "up" for their Rivalry game with those fierce New Mexico Lobos! They certainly will not be getting any games against the Aggies after this ordeal.

Ya they might be under 500. Good point.

When was the last time that A&M beat a SEC team? Was it like 7 or 8 meetings ago?

Anyway, none of us know what's going to happen to the remaining conference. It's too early to speculate. A lot can change fast.

Btw, you mentioned a potential move to the MWC and then brought up TCU. Fyi, they're scheduled to move to the Big East in 2012-13.

I mentioned TCU because that is the first game for the Bears this season and they are not sure they can sell enough tickets to lift the tarp. This was not conjecture for the future.

Haha .. Love that argument about A&M. Guess since Texas has lost their last 5 Big XII games, they are going to suck in the Big XII forever right?

Oh ok...was a bit confusing. My bad.

I think you should stay away from comparing the 2 programs. One is an elite program that plays in title games and gets top 5 recruiting classes seemingly ever year for over a decade. While the other has been mediocre at best with one good year under its belt. Not counting this upcoming season...the last time A&M was a top 10 team was when I was 11. I just turned 28 :)

You can say well A&M has gotten better. 41-24 loss against LSU was pretty recent :p

We shall see right? A&M is on the way up and Texas was not always at the Top. Alabama, Florida, LSU, and Texas have had long down periods. Notre Dame's current down period is even worse than the Aggies. Doesn't mean it is always going to be that way and A&M is clearly moving in the right direction. I agree that this is a high risk, high reward move for A&M, but in reality, this was going to happen in the next 3-5 years anyway so we were just taking the timetable into our own hands.

The series is pretty close overall. It comes in waves guys, Jesus. TAMU is top 10 now. They'll be there for awhile with a top 5 class coming in and an o-line that will remain intact. Anyways, re-read the quotes that bumped the thread, its not about what the record will be or if the conference will be tougher. Again, that's Texas' schtick, trying to make a home in the easiest conference possible.

*I know the Big 12 isn't the easiest conference, but its not like UT is going to bolt to an inferior conference, Jesus its a joke I have to include this disclaimer, but I know you bozos are going be like -- oh well geez, if that's the case they'd just go to the Big East by-gollee-geez -- get the F out of here.

Such a weak, BS conference yet A&M hasn't accomplished much. Waves, huh? Well that wave took over 15 years to come.

To RocketManJosh -- the TCU - Baylor game might be one of the largest turnouts ever. A lot of kids usually leave town for labor day weekend but it's on a Friday night. Baylor has the largest incoming freshmen class in its history this year. Last year's opener against Sam Houston State had an attendance of 42,821.

Are Baylor fans seriously making fun of the Aggies for moving up to a better conference?? Since when is it a bad thing to want to improve? Why should A&M want to stick around and play the Little Sisters of the Poor, when they can try and gain some national respect? UT didn't give a damn about the rest of the Big 12....why should the Aggies? The SEC has come knocking twice now....this time, we're open to it. Have fun trying to play tiddlywinks with UTEP, Rice, or whoever will listen to you now, Big 12.

Also, we might have been on a down cycle the last few years, but A&M is a pedigreed football program with a ton of history and tradition. We're not championship contenders year in and year out, but we have our draw. A&M football is certainly on the rise again, with a pre-season top 10 ranking, along with a top 10 recruiting class next year.
