yeah, i don't get the vandy hate either. Yes, it's a bit of a homer in terms of defending the texans but he isnt completely ridiculous about it. As for his announcing, I think he does a pretty good job
I like vandy's dorkiness. 100% of commentators for local teams are homers. The man suffers every heartbreaking loss with us. I really like Spencer Tillman, insight and voice. It must be by choice that he associates himself with the college game than the NFL?
I like Vandermeer, I've met him a few times, and he is a really nice guy in person, that goes a long way in my book. He uses the "Rock N Roll" because he plays guitar, and is a big time classic rock fan especially Led Zeppelin.
Billionaire BoBBy's lackey would describe VaderMeer's role with the Texans best. I mean he wasn't willing to criticise Casserly and Capers during the 2-14 disaster. That's when I lost respect for him.
The last time I remember an announcer criticizing his employer or fellow employees was Chip Carey and Steve Stone going off on the Cubs players and front office...they both took severe heat for it from upper management and eventually quit. You aren't going to find many home team announcers criticize their employer...not Bill Worrell, Bull, Bill Brown or Jimmy D. That is why I don't like him doing their morning show, he tries to be careful but to many times he passes up a chance to make valid points. Understandable but makes him sound silly sometimes.
I like Marc doing play by play. I have no issues with him. It's no different than the Pacers guy saying BOOM BABY. Marc's never going to talk **** about the the Coach, GM, or Owner of the Texans. He's employed by the Texans. Would you publicly trash your boss?
I enjoy his announcing. He has an interesting quality to his voice but isn't annoying, and he does a solid job calling the game. As a host, his homerism can get tiresome, but if anyone gets a free homer pass, it's Vandy. He's not spectacular or anything, but he gets the job done and doesn't distract me from rooting for my Texans with r****ded commentary.
yeah, but rock and roll is lame. but i think he does a good job calling the game. whats the score milo
you don't bite the hand that feeds you. Personally, i don't mind the rock and roll catch phrase...and I think he does a very good job of painting a picture of the game.
Vandermeer is great. We got some great announcers around this city. When Bill Worrell goes, for example, move Craig Ackerman to TV.
Rock and roll is great. I think people are subconsciously hating on it because it's "rock and roll, jacoby jones!" That's understandable.
All I have to say is Joel Myers if F'in horrible. Last night I wanted to jump through the TV and tell him its Owen Daniels not Owen Daniel! Hes constantly getting players names wrong. The whole Channel 13 production is crap, like the 30 tard FG attempt by Rackers last night.
I couldn't agree more wrt to production quality I saw the reply on the NFL network (SF announcers) and the difference was off the charts.
