I fell in love with the show from its very first season and I liked it better than the Office from the start.
Yeah, skip season 1 and just watch after that. I turned it off after 3 episodes of the first season then picked up the rest about a year later. Definitely entertaining, not the thickest of plotlines as every problem is almost rushed where it drastically arises and drastically gets solved by the end of an episode. Aziz and Swanson are definitely worth the lulz.
I think everyone should watch season 1 as a perspective check. It was terrible. But Parks and Recreation proves that it's possible for writers to figure out how to get it right even after they whiff at the beginning. I still remember being shocked it was brought back for a 2nd season. Ever since, I've been much more patient with new series.
Yeah, this and Community are my favorites on network. Season 1 focused WAY too much on Leslie Knope. Now they set the awesomeness of Ron free, Tom being Tom, blacksheep jokes on Jerry, etc. It feels more like an ensemble comedy than the first season.
I think the first episode I really laughed my face off was the mural one. Jerry made a beautiful mosaic of every citizen in Pawnee, and everyone just laughed him off because he said "murinal."
