I have to say Zach Randolph has become one of my favorite players. He's obviously a little crazy, these allegations are probably true, and if there's a season in November he'll probably be a little out of shape and jacking up god awful threes. But come April and May, he becomes an unstoppable low post monster and carries an overachieving team deep into the playoffs. What's not to love?

He's not a suspect, so he's fine. He definitely needs to stop getting tangled up in this stuff though. I think he was linked to a drug investigation just last summer too.

If he keeps associating with the wrong people, it's only a matter of time.

Oh boy, now just because he has a history of crime and mar1juana and assaults and police searching his apartment, you guys are going to call him a thug...

    /Thug apologist satire

I like Randolph, hopefully he can keep his act clean and continue finding success with the Grizz.

Well, if you look carefully, in most of this stuff it isn't Randolph who's implicated. It's the people around him.

And that is gonna happen when you grew up the way he did

Don't use the "thug" word too loosely. Randolph is far from a thug.

It's more like a bunch of dudes with liquid courage reenacting the opening scene in Terminator 2.

How can you absolve him if he is having a party at his home and HIRING people to sell dope at the party?

Zach is a knucklehead. Despite his great season. He is a knucklehead. And his lifestyle will be his undoing. And it could come at any moment. Memphis, once again, showed their ignorance giving him his fat contract. An extremely highly skilled player with an Achilles heel as huge as Lake Michigan. I have no doubt he'll screw it up and then the Grizz will be stuck with a Money Pit.

Well, mar1juana and police searching your home for something someone else did is not what I would consider thugish. So, IMO, the things discussed in the article don't make him a thug.

Rarely do people become "thug apologists" when discussing a person that has committed a legitimate crime against someone. And, It's illegal but I don't really see much of a difference between hiring someone to sell weed and hiring someone to sell beer, they're both harmful drugs...and I don't do either of them.

They beat up a drug dealer? They sound like superheros to me. Nothing to see here.

He is a BASKETBALL player. He is not a religious figure. He is not every kid's parent. As long as he produces on the court and stays out of actual trouble, no one has the right to judge his private life. It is not his obligation to respond in kind to people who look to him to be a role model. It is the parent's job to educate their kids on right or wrong, not his. If he chooses to carry himself with class like Andre Johnson, then great for him. If not, who the hell has the right to care or criticize him for his personal life? It is not like he was the one beating up on people. The police already said as much.

Come one. You can so readily trust the words of a drug dealer that you instantly blame Randolph? Sure Randolph could have actually hired him to come over before to dabble in a little bit of Mary Jane. However, they did not find any at all in his house. How do you know it wasn't from Randolph cutting him out of his circle and the guy getting butt hurt about it and went over there threatening to expose him for hooking up with weed? There are easily way too many unknowns here for you to pass him off as "thug" so fast.

Thug or not, I would gladly trade Scola for Randolph any day. This guy is a straight up beast!

    Chen,

I can judge him all I want...that is what fans do.

I don't want a guy like him on my favorite team, because at some point, his demons are going to cost the team.

Forget it, malcontents like him are not worth the trouble.
