Jameer Nelson is not a bad PG, probably a top 20 PG, but come on now, he's not as good as you say he is. I agree on the better 3 pt shooter, but the rest is no argument. Devin Harris was the best defender on a really good Dallas team a few years back. On offense Harris is much better at setting up teammates. Most of Jameer's assists come from just getting the ball to Dwight in the post.
Right but you really have to view their individual in-game performance...stats are great but keep in mind how many open looks nelson has prolly received from playing with Howard and other spot up shooters compared to Harris in NJ...who played along side....who??
Go look at the defensive ratings for that Dallas team. George, Howard, Dampier, Nowitzki, and Diop all had better defensive ratings than Devin Harris. I've said he's by far the best backup PG and is a starter-caliber PG. That's true. I don't have much faith in Devin Harris b/c he's a poor perimeter shooter. Better shooting leads to better spacing which leads to better offense.
and going on my last comment...if you watch them both play..it is clear that devin harris is much better in setting up his teammates, running the break, finishing around the basket, and defensively...I do think Jameer may be a better spot up shooter...but like I said I would like to see what kind of spot up shooter Devin Harris could have developed into if he played his whole career alongside a Dwight Howard
