BTW here is the interview with the ref after the fight, absolutely hilarious <iframe src="http://player.vimeo.com/video/27676519?title=0&byline=0&portrait=0" width="400" height="300" frameborder="0"></iframe><p><a href="http://vimeo.com/27676519">Jim Gray Roasts Russell Gray for Robbing Joseph 'King Kong' Agbeko!</a> from <a href="http://vimeo.com/user3741650">Kwabena</a> on <a href="http://vimeo.com">Vimeo</a>.</p>
I'll go with this guy... <iframe width="560" height="345" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/mLGwk3VMxUI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Atleast Jim Joyce admitted his mistake and apologized when he saw the replay, unlike this ref who tried to play it off and look like he did nothing wrong.
Jim Grey def kept it real in the post game interview Looks like there will be justice after all...Statement from IBF: IBF President Daryl Peoples and IBF Championships Chairman Lindsey Tucker completed their review of the IBF Optional Bantamweight Championship bout that took place on August 13, 2011 in Las Vegas, NV, between Joseph Agbeko and Abner Mares. Mr. Peoples and Mr. Tucker observed several low blow fouls committed by Abner Mares. While the referee, Russell Mora, issued numerous warnings for low blows during the course of the bout, he neglected to deduct points for these fouls. With 1:03 left in round eleven, Joseph Agbeko was hit with a low blow foul that forced him to the canvas. Mr. Mora determined that the blow landed by Mares was legal and began to count indicating that a knockdown had occurred. Based upon their review of the bout, it has been determined by the IBF that inappropriate conduct by the referee affected the outcome of the fight. In accordance with IBF/USBA Rule 3.D., the IBF is ordering a rematch between Joseph Agbeko and Abner Mares for the IBF Bantamweight title which must be held within the next 120 days or by December 14, 2011. http://www.secondsout.com/news?ccs=1611&cs=1948564
disgraceful. reminds me of when dl mcqueen paid of the ref in fight night champion, except the ref allowed the low blows props to jim gray
I don't know how the ref can give multiple warnings for low blows and then claim in the post fight interview that they were on the belt line (some were, a lot weren't). He was acknowledging during the fight that they were low blows, he just refused to deduct points for them.
After listening to Joyce bury himself after the game, and after listening to the crooked boxing ref's postfight comments, why would you would even bring this up? Not even remotely comparable.
Nah, don't apologize, plenty of other easy targets (soccer, olympics, etc)....but is there any other explanation for this ref's actions other than he's corrupt or mentally r****ded?
holy cow, I haven't seen countless videos of referee failures, but I've seen enough to know that this is by far the worst I've seen yet.
Wow, that really started pissing me off...total BS. Im glad there is a rematch in place. That ref needs to find a new job.
Especially after starting the 10 count after the shot that will keep the guy from having future babies.
