I am going to be spending the weekend in NO for my buddies bachelor party. seems like fitting conclusion to a weekend of debauchery.

does anyone have any advice / experience tailgating at Saints games?

I have been to NO a number of times and still have a ton have friends there. but never been to a game. so I assume I know what to expect from the "passionate fan base"

There's not really a set place where alot of tailgating goes on near the Superdome. The most prevelant place Ive seen people set up is under the interstate right by the dome, but it's really not a huge tailgating area. Champion's Square right infront of the Dome is a really cool pregame spot, though. That's where you'll find the largest congregation of people and they've got some awesome food you can buy there, but tailgating it is not. The crappy part about that area, though, is I believe they won't let you bring in coolers. You can bring in your own beer but not coolers or any other type of containers that will hold enough beers for you to get drunk before kick off.

Most of the parking is off-location in private lots and Im pretty sure you can set up a tailgate in most of the lots if you want. But my personal suggestion would be to hit the Quarter early for drinks then walk over to Champions Square to eat before kickoff. It's not your typical pregame experience, but it's still getting drunk and eating good food while surrounded by football fans.

There is no where to tailgate. You just show up to the game. There's barely parking as it is.

There is a lot of EVIL, as Ray lewis would say, going around the parking lots in NFL cities. Just go in and enjoy the game.
Is Green bay the only place that's safe?

I will be tailgating there when the Texans go into town for the regular season.

    I hope I don't get beat up.

I was at that game. The NO fans in our section didn't like the "who dat" teasing too much.

You'll be tailgating alone. It's not like Reliant. There is no where to tailgate. No fenced in parking surround the stadium. Barely enough room to park.

Your best bet is to pre-party on bourbon and cab it over.
