Bachman: Americans fear the rise of the Soviet Union

I'm not Bachmann fan, but I'm willing to buy that this was just a harmless slip of the tongue as she said later. It isn't really an indication of her knowledge on the subject.

Her maintaining that the founding fathers were abolitionists is a better indication of how idiotic she is.

 

Even if she were referring to Russia, are Americans really afraid of Russia these days? China, sure. India, maybe. But Russia?

 

It's been my impression that most of Bachmann's voter base is pretty much afraid of everyone who isn't a white, christian social conservative from the midwest.

Why anyone continues to pay attention to her, I still don't understand.

 

I don't believe they are afraid of Russia, but the uproar wasn't about Americans being worried about certain nations even if they aren't, it was about her calling Russion the Soviet Union.

I certainly don't like defending her, but some gaffs are worse than others.

 

i would agree if it was one, or two or maybe even three - but at this point this woman has made about a dozen jaw-droppingly stupid slips-of-the-tounge.

 

The Bachmann family seems to have taken a liking to slipping tongues.

 

I agree. I can forgive this as a slip of the tongue but if she really feels that Russia is a threat I find that rather ill informed.
