really not sure why she would get a double when she showed her ass plenty in that other movie where she was a stripper (cant remember the name of it right now)
I remember hearing something about a double butt after taking a crack at investigating this hard topic, it looks like a double was used, but only used for the diving into the water part. http://www.movieline.com/2011/03/the-mystery-of-natalie-portmans-butt-in-your-highness-solved.php side by side shot comparisons...amazing how similar they are. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbi...talie-Portmans-body-double-Your-Highness.html
I agree, I think the first half could have been shortened a little. I didn't know much going in so I expected scatters of fight scenes instead of one epic one. A pleasant surprise. I'll give it a 6 although I still highly recommend people to see it. Also saw another Asian film, this time from Korea called The Man from Nowhere. Seems to get good reviews on Netflix and Rotten Tomatoes and I'm usually on board, but this time I'm in the minority. I just didn't like it much. It's stylish, but a little lacking in action and just didn't like how the 2nd half panned out. Kind of a mess and didn't care much. 4/10.
Another Earth (70%) - This was a thought-provoking film that focuses much more on the emotional than the cosmological, which I realize might disappoint some. Now there are some giant plot holes if you look at this thing from too much of a scientific angle, but I still found the human side of it to be engrossing. It was also beautifully directed and scored, and felt it was a breakthrough performance for the lead actress, Brit Marling. I would not suggest it if you're looking for a "true" Sci-Fi flick, but if you enjoy pondering the philosophical and peering into the abstract, this just might be for you. It's good, but flawed. <iframe width="420" height="345" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/N8hEwMMDtFY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Adam - 6.5/10 This movie is about a guy with Asperger's Syndrome who meets a girl and the short relationship that they develop. I enjoyed it because I have a friend with Asperger's and I can definitely relate to those two character's relationship (not the romance). The only difference is that the Adam character knows he has the syndrome and realizes it's a disorder and he strives to be "normal" but my friend doesn't know, since his parents brought him up convincing there is nothing wrong with him. This leads to so many social awkwardness just like in this movie, but I digress. I'd rate it higher, but I don't typically like dramas.
Rise of the Planet of the Apes - 9/10 I just got back from seeing it and thought it was a spectacular movie. I had been anticipating it for a while and it did not disappoint. I really hope they make another one.
I saw Conan last night. I'm not sure what to think. Arnold and the old Conan movies are a tough remake. My wife and I agreed that part of the appeal of the old ones were the quests and the fact that Arnold was more barbarian-didn't talk a ton, crum, beliefs. This felt like typical hollywood and sort of like Prince of Persia and Conan was hardly a barbarian. Also, Arnold's physique circa 1983 make this guy just look puny. Good new guys, quite a bit of boobs. 5.8/10
I went on a movie spree this past week... Rise of....Apes - 6/10 I don't know why, I just didn't really get into it like others did. Decent flick though. I hope in the future they make a sequel of the Apes being super advanced technologically, so maybe a few centuries after? Have them go to space and have a Star Trek-like adventure, Ape style. Also I did not see the other Apes movies, and vaguely remember the Charlton Heston one as a kid. Toy Story 3 - 7/10 Does this mean no more Toy Story movies? Or are they going to recycle the story with a different owner now? The ending was a little emotional. I was hoping that the toys would remain evil even after Lotso was gone. Would be cool to see how Emperor Zurg would cope with those evil toys. The Change Up - 5/10 I'm a fan of Jason Bateman, but this one fell a little short. I think Reynolds ruined it. Bateman nailed Reynolds' character, but unfortunately the reciprocity wasn't there on Reynolds' end. Plus they basically took the story of old 80's flick and retold it in a crappier way. Friends With Benefits - 1/10 Sweet Jesus what tha **** was that?! Find Me Guilty - 8/10 Vin Diesel was surprisingly good in this one. Didn't get attached to his character, but the story (since it's based on true events) was pretty good. Vanishing On 7th Street - 1/10 No story, no explanation, no acting, possibly the worst ending ever created by man. How Anakin is able to find acting gigs is beyond me.
True Grit 10/10 Movie of the year last year by miles. What acting jobs! Love the dialogue too. Lincoln Lawyer 6.5/10 Pretty good in its own right. Rango 7/10 The characters were kinda ... yucky to me at the beginning, but really liked the movie at the end Inside Job 8/10 Good documentary.
Despicable Me Very nice family film with a lot of good elements for adults too. The gadgets and stuff reminded me of Incredibles for some reason. And the story was rather sweet. I liked the minions, but I almost feel they didn't fully utilize their potential. Looking forward to the sequel. 7/10
Drive Angry (-100%) - The good? Amber Heard. The bad? Everything else. Source Code (60%) - I seem to remember a lot of people liking this movie in this thread, but it just didn't resonate with me at all. Seemed like a cheap premise which was introduced as ridiculously difficult to understand so that when it makes no sense we can't really question it.
Yeah, talking about being cheap production. Shoot one scene and use it 8 times with slightly changed dialogues. Boring.
I haven't really had time to watch movies but this past weekend, had time to watch 2 movies. I am way behind on released movies! Insidious - 7/10 I liked it...it wasn't your typical scary movie! Easy A - 7/10 Surprisingly, it was a good movie. I like Emma Stone.
Midnight in Paris. 9/10. Loved the movie. I'm not usually a Woody Allen fan by but I enjoyed this a lot.
I would say I "watched" Insidious, but in between the laughing, the eye rolling, getting up for ice cream then popcorn and scrolling through my phone while my fiance' watched, I guess I didn't. I mean, I couldn't. It was THAT awful. Everything has been done before, horrible acting, absolutely nothing scary about this abortion (same producers of Paranormal Activity, so I wasn't shocked by this). -10 out of 100. I want my $6.00 back with interest.
Transformers 3 - 5.5/10 Considering that Transformer 1 and Transformer 2 were a 2/10 and 1/10 respectively, this was surprisingly decent. I stopped caring about dialogues, plots and all that when it comes to Michael Bay so I won't be so pissed off throughout the movie. However what surprised me was how much improved the action was. I could actually tell which one is the good guy and bad guy rather than just big pieces of unidentified metal rubbing against each other from the first 2 movies. I know it's an emergency casting, but they could've gotten someone hotter for the trophy gf.
