I can't really imagine living with a maid or a butler - it seems to me that a person should be incredibly embarrassed by having a maid or butler. Grown human beings should take care of themselves. I don't know .... there just seems to be something very, very wrong with it that I can't quite explain just now. But, other than that, I just scrolled down to the bottom of this page to see what jackass posted the giant unspoilered photo that threw off the entire thread.
My family had the same maid, who came five days a week, for over 25 years. She was like a second mother to me. Sometimes, as a little boy, i spent weekends at her house in the the Third Ward.
I had a live in maid for about 7 years when I was growing up because my parents were both incredibly busy trying to provide for 4 boys. My mom owns her own business and was gone 15 hours a day, and my dad, eventually, quit his downtown job to help run it with her. The maids still come about 5x a week. There is nothing wrong with having a maid or butler. All it's doing is creating jobs. What's wrong with that in a time of over 9% unemployment? Also, my parents wouldn't have been able to spend as much time with us if they were busy worrying about house keeping and all that jazz.
CINDY: All right, I'm takin' off. Aren't you forgetting something? JERRY: Oh, right! Hey, it was great seeing you again. I love your outfit. CINDY: No. My money. JERRY: For what? CINDY: For my maid services. You booked me for today. JERRY: But you didn't really do any work. CINDY: I made the bed. JERRY: But you took a nap in it. CINDY: So? JERRY: I thought that was kind of girlfriend bed making. CINDY: No. That was the maid. JERRY: Well, who took the nap? CINDY: The girlfriend. JERRY: $40 seems kind of steep for a nap. CINDY: So, what are you saying? That I'm a bad maid or some kind of a prostitute? JERRY: Ho, ho...ho! Hold on. Let's keep this sophisticated. CINDY: You know, I don't think I want to be your girlfriend or your maid. JERRY: So is this a breakup/quitting? CINDY: Yeah. Don't ever call me or hire me again. Cindy walks out of Jerry's apartment. JERRY: Oh, yeah? Well, then, we're through! And you're fired!
back when my mom was bankin in the 90s, we had a live in nanny, she was from the hood and kept us in line and did a good job cleaning the house. I guess it was a pretty cool experience. we only had her for a couple of years before my parents got divorced. boy did I miss her. cleaning a house sucks lol
when we were children my sister and i had a few live-in nannies at different times. cleaned, cooked, babysat, etc.
We call a maid to clean our house maybe once every 3-4 weeks. She brings a friend and it takes them about 3 hours. Pay her $80. Thats about $13 an hour and she is definitely on the cheaper side. So yeah...they make "decent" money.
It would be nice to have a butler who would butter my balls before I played a game of chess every evening.
one would think someone with such strong opinions on the matter would have a basic idea of that before spouting off.
