Just saying, it seems pointless for you to keep arguing for something that will never happen. Hill and Thabeet manning the center spot would be a blatant tank job and that’s not something ownership is willing to do. You saying the team would actually get better from dumping Chuck is completely laughable. I don’t think you watched the Rockets the two weeks Chuck hurt his ankle and Hill had to fill in.
Although I'd hate to see him go, it would be an ideal fit for Chuck. Chuck is built to be a contributing member on a good team, either as a starter surrounded by gifted offensive players, or as a backup who serves as a specialist when called upon. Chuck wont be enough to get Boston past Miami though, which is what they need to focus on.
I know that they are not as good as Chuck right now, but they need playing time to find out if they will be better, one thing they all are is taller than chuck and more athletic. So, I would rather roll with a 7'3" athlete at center while we develop than a 6'6" (maybe) hustle player. Because this year we will not be competing for squat, it is time to find out if any of these 3rd year lottery players are going to amount to anything. I know folks don't like losing favorites, but IMO, it is what the franchise needs to do...I fully expect Morey to do what he always does, offer a lowball amount, and then say..."Well, we tried" when Chuck gets more money elsewhere. DD
Your lack of talent evaluation skills is prevalent once again. Chuck Hayes is a starting caliber player in this league. Joel Anthony was a starter for a championship caliber team. Hayes is better than Joel on both sides of the court. Chuck Hayes works hard. The results and his progression as a player are very clear. It's too bad that you can't see it. We will be competing for a playoff spot. Memphis was a blown game away from being in the WCF. We aren't going to "roll" with scrubs like Thabeet. He is an expiring contract. Nothing more. Battier is past his prime. Hayes is just entering his. Stop acting like the team can't have 2, 3 players around the age of 28 in the rotation. DM will make re-signing Hayes a high priority.

thanks to yoyo I was able to meet the chuckwagon at a game last year. I will definitely be sad if the Rockets dont resign him. He is definitely one of the most down to earth and genuinely nice guys in the NBA.
Yes yes, if you can't win the argument attack the other guy...Yawn. Chuck is a great situational role player, a luxury, we don't need him as a rebuilding franchise. DD
He is taking up a rosters spot, and playing time that can be better used to evaluate up and coming players. This team is not contending, it is rebuilding, and we don't need Chuck Hayes for that, IMO. DD
I'll win the argument when DM re-signs Chuck Hayes. Our team does not get better by subtracting Hayes. It's simple as that. My guess is that he will be in a Rockets uni next season. You are right about one thing. He is a luxury esp at what he made last season. Solid rebounder at over 10 per 36, 53 % fg, 1.1 steals, .7 blocks and a LOT of hustle. Once again, we are clearly contending for a playoff spot. We might be rebuilding but we will also be in the hunt for the playoffs. DM has made it clear that he's sticking with the guys that played well last season. That's with Hayes and Lowry in the lineup. That AB break down vid is pretty funny and rather in-depth
Logic so oversimplified it's almost insulting. You seem to believe 'rebuilding' requires nothing less than 100% turn over. As if any holdovers from a previous Rockets squad are almost detrimental.
Let me get this straight. You mean a "rebuilding" team should have a full roster of unproven young players and should get rid of all veterans?
Of course not, but any veteran returning should realize they are going to be taking a backseat to the development of younger players. I like Chuck, but I am not in love with the guy, he is completely replaceable.... A great low post defender, who is far below average on offense.... He would be a valuable backup on a championship team, but on a developing team, he has very little use other than as a coach etc... DD
The Sacramento Kings and Washington Wizards are clear examples of how well that strategy works, given all the intelligent mature people they have their squads. Every team, no matter what the circumstances, needs a leader. Chuck is ours, especially since he shows to everyone what hard work and dedication can get you, even if you're not that especially talented or athletic. And he is the longest member of the Rockets. He will stick around. I'm sure of it.
So leadership isn't valuable unless it's coming from a star? Some of the stuff you say just makes no sense. Here is what a SENSIBLE person has to say about Chuck's role on the team. http://vaughtsviews.com/?p=9350
