Because Piers Morgan asked her about gay marriage?

I don't even care about this little girl's politics; others with her views have built successful colleges, media companies and the like, it's that she is simply a parasite.

I forget why she was ever relevant.

Because the media made her relevant.

I think the woman might be mentally handicapped. I don't see how he did anything buy ask her questions she should be willing to answer. You don't conduct the interview, he does. Get over yourself.

At the risk of defending Christine O'Donnell who handled it very poorly at the same time Piers Morgan was badgering her. When it was clear she wasn't going to answer those questions he should've just moved on to the next set of questions. I think a lot of this depends on what was the expectation that O'Donnell had about the interview. If this was going to be about Gay issues then she should've been prepared to address that if this was just a general interview about her book Piers Morgan should've had a range of subjects from the book to discuss instead of fixated on one issue.

Yeah, he should have moved on after it was clear she was dodging for some bizarre reason.

Seems it would have been easy for her to just answer the question-- it's not like this is a novel issue so anyone in politics, certainly anyone who was an actual major party nominee for the U.S. Senate, should have been able to explain her position on relatively easily. It seems that Morgan "badgered" her mostly because she was so strangely defensive about it-- sure maybe it's not what you want to focus on, but you are in politics, wrote a book about politics (Tea Party ideals, making America great again, etc.) and you can't give a 30 second answer to a political question that was subject to votes in several states and being discussed by GOP presidential candidates?

That's just it... her evasion of the question is so bizarre that it just begs for the host follow up on it. It's not like other people in politics haven't been asked the same question 1000 times before.

Unless this was a paid infomercial O'Donnell has no right to expect guided, narrow questions about her book, and she is too irrelevant to dictate otherwise. Morgan's an experienced news editor and recognized a dead interview two minutes in, then he tried to have some fun or salvage it into something clipworthy. Once again O'Donnell proves on a top-rated, global news network what an unprepared child she is and wastes everyone's time. The media climate for the last two decades deluded politically-minded people her age into thinking that they could build a lifelong, six-figure-salaried career by simply having an opinion and being halfway telegenic.

lmao, has she ever sat down for an interview? She doesn't pick what she wants to talk about, she goes on to answer questions by the interviewer. I'm pretty sure you don't even need a high school education to know that.

I disagree. When you're a politician (and make no mistake: she is. She's just between campaigns) and you make a public appearance to promote your book (which, as he pointed out, does contain the issues he was addressing), you should know that anything within the book is going to be fair game. And when you take hard-line stances on hot-button issues like gay marriage and DADT like she has in the past, you should expect to be put in a position of having to defend your viewpoint. I suspect she didn't want to answer the questions because she didn't have a scripted answer prepared, and was afraid of having a Palin-Couric moment.

I also don't think he was being rude. Asking someone a question and expecting an answer isn't rude: it's called journalism. I'm glad he didn't let her off the hook.

I disagree with the idea he was badgering her. And I disagree that the media made her relevant. Republican voters made her relevant when they nominated her to run for Senate.

She's an outspoken opponent of gay marriage. She's there promoting a book that apparently expresses her opposition to gay marriage.

Once he asked her a question about a position she's taken many times, including in the new book she was there promoting, that's what the interview became about. What more interesting topic could there be, what topic more worth exploring, than her refusal to defend or even acknowledge her own passionately stated opinions?

He wasn't rude at all. Were any politician (or just writer) to simply refuse to talk about his or her stated position, that becomes a bigger story and a more important one than the policy positions she prefers talking about.

Exactly. "Moving on" is what reporters do far too often and it's extremely irresponsible.

Reminds me of a clip from the Daily Show. The British guy from Fox Business channel is interviewing Murdoch when the New of the World story initially broke a while back. Murdoch says "I'm not talking about that issue right now" British guy answers right away with a smile "Well don't worry sir, we won't ask you about it"

    Absolutely pathetic.

I was thinking of the exact same clip! I remember seeing that and shaking my head in disgust.
