I do, but only to the point of a dollar and whatever loose change I get back on the order. They have to go in and out all day, no matter what the weather. That puts them ahead of drivethru workers in my book.

I've often wondered about this as well. Today me and my little daughter went there. The gal brought out my order, I had already paid for it via debit card. After she gave me the order and offered ketchup she said "thank you" and made a little laugh that I translated as "you're a cheap b*stard".

After I finished my meal I noticed her walking from another car with a dollar bill in her hand so I'm guessing some people do tip the Sonic chicks. I'll just go through the drive thru from now on.

Similar question to the sushi one:

How much do you tip the Hibachi Chef? If you just put a tip on your card, how is it split?

I tipped your mom 20 bucks on a 20 buck trick. So yes.

    j.k

It was actually only 5 bucks tip. I'm not that rich yet.

I worked at Sonic last summer and made a ridiculous amount of tips. I could easily get $50 if lunch was busy. This summer I work at Sonic in a nicer neighborhood (at Highland Knolls in Katy) and In 5 hours last night I barely made $6. We do have a drive thru though, which is the main difference I guess.

I will always tip my car hop though. Many people I work with support themselves with the 5.15+tips. Lots of people don't tip. Usually it doesn't bother me, but if the order is 14.96 and they hand me 3 five dollar bills and wait impatiently for the change, I kind of don't understand that. Maybe people don't realize most people do tip, even if it's only 10 or 20 cents. That money adds up at the end of the night.

I've also heard that only hot car hops get tipped. Wtf? I'm hot... :(

Yeah, but they dont' give you an option to tip on the debit line. Sometimes, I just don't have any cash. In fact, most times I don't.

I want to order a pizza that is 13.99 plus tax, delivery etc.

Will a 20 cover that including tip?

Also, most of the I time tip and order online but then at the door they are like wtf no tip? I dunno are they expecting cash AND the credit card tip?

    Huge bump:

    Carry out: $2-3
Carwash: I've never not done it myself...it takes like 15 minutes
Buffet: $3 or so if going to a place where they refill your drinks
    Bartender: Don't drink
    Valet: Never used one personally
    Haircut: $4-5

I generally tip more than you should. I've easily tipped 8 on 20 or 10 on 35 countless times. I'm only 26 and been in the industry most of my working life. Younger people almost always = bad or no tip in the eyes of the employees. It's the waiters who will still address me as sir and come by to check on us several times and gets me what I need right away that gets the 30% tip. It's almost as if I'm telling them "I know you could have been a b**** to me and given me crap service because I look young, but you didn't, so here you go"

So I was at a club in Vegas a week ago. Had originally asked for a Dos Equis but for some reason they didnt offer those there. Anyways, I ended up with a Sam Adams and paid $10 for it.

Im sorry, but I didnt tip the bartender. Those 10 bucks killed my buzz and hurt my soul.

As I turned to walk back, the bartender taps my shoulder and says "youre welcome".

I nodded my head and said to myself, "sorry dude, I paid 10 bucks for this beer. I really dont feel like spending another buck."

To say the least, it was my last beer of the night.

I just got back from Vegas myself and you should have went to Downtown Vegas. Dollar PBR beers and lots of specials. It was a nice break from the pricey stripe.

I've delivered pizzas once in my life. And I only mean once... like half a day and that was just to cover a buddy. That job was a royal pain. Since then I tip delivery boys minimum $5.

I tip waiters around $3-5, usually the latter.

    People tip on buffets?

What do you mean you tip waiters $3-5? It should be a percentage of the bill, same goes for deliveries.

And yes, I tip buffet waiters, all they do is get me my drink, but I remember when I was a kid someone told me to tip $1/person for buffet, so that's what I do. Which seems reasonable, regular buffets are about $9/person.

I don't tip for carry out unless the chick is hot, if you're a dude, you're sol.

I would tip at the car wash, when claiming my vehicle, if it's a simple wash ($12-15), I would give them $1 dollar, if it's a detail, maybe $3.

i never understood this thinking. why punish/reward somebody for something they have no control over? i'm not going to tip some girl more just because she's good looking. especially when she's not doing anything extra for me.
