I would imagine UH/TCU/SMU/Rice lost out when the SWC disbanded - obviously the numbers would be smaller since it was 15 years ago, but still similar in principle. And we never heard anything about lawsuits last year when the Big12 was going to disband.
Poor coaching. It happens. But saying they can't recruit is just stupid. Also, they got Cotton & Alamo bowls during that span. Not too shabby.
they're not talking about a lawsuit against A&M, necessarily...but rather a lawsuit against the SEC for messing with the Big XII's TV deal by inducing A&M to breach. we'll see if there's legs to that....but the concern is that the threat of it, given that it's the first year of a $1 billion deal, might be enough to scare the SEC off. also, i believe that was timed well around the termination date of their pre-existing TV deal.
The Big 12 since 2000 has been dominated by OU and TU with a few accomplishments from KU, NU and TTU. Why anyone thinks the Big 12 is dead is beyond me, because they fail to see the two best teams never left. Texas A&M's departure, if anything, strengthens the remnants of the Big 12. If A&M thinks joining the SEC will make them more "relevent" as I have heard, it will, make them more relevent than Vanderbilt. I just don't understand the decession, because eventually the Florid schools will be in the same conference as Georgia, Alabama, LSU, Tennesse, and Arkansas. Does A&M hope by joining in on the last days of the SEC that they will get an invite? They must have already been given a very confident "yes" or it doesn't make much sense.

Aggys going to SEC means the state is even more open for teams like Florida and LSU and Alabama to come swoop up prospects away from A&M. Good luck out recruiting those teams Aggys, I'd rather have Houston in the big12. Thats a bigger market and a growing fan base, something that could make the big12 more interesting.
So you're saying a kid who wants to play Florida won't play there now but might go to A&M, but would dump A&M and go to Florida if A&M were in the SEC? Please share the logic there. A&M & Texas each have more fans in Houston than UH does.
i like uh/smu coming to big 12. hopefully that means sumlin stays. both of those schools should be able to take advantage of their respective metropolitan areas when it comes to recruiting if they are in an aq conference. give me Texas schools any day of the week.

Financially, the move makes sense for A&M, but I dont know if it is smart for their athletic programs, especially football wise. A&M finally broke through and became relevant again this past year against a weak Big 12. I dont know how they will survive in the SEC.
They will survive the same way all the other SEC teams have survived. A&M is a big time football school in a big time football state. A&M could be on the verge of being a consistent top 10 team for years to come. A&M has been down for a while, but there is no reason they can't return to being a true force in football. I think moving to the SEC may help them in recruiting. I hope they can make the move.
No, not a web poll (although those reflect the strength of UH interest in the Houston market as well), a subscriber poll. And then there's the tv ratings, which are surprisingly comparable lately. When UH played TTU/UCLA, even during a crap timeslot (super late start), the game drew almost as many viewers as UT and A&M's games that day, IIRC.
ahaha If you think A&M is going to be a consistent top 10 team for years to come, you are delusional. SEC is built off pipeline success, A&M lacks in that department. You can argue otherwise, but compare A&M talent to any SEC Team in the past 15 years. You will be horribly disappointed.
