So he "optmistically" says, no problem, no games will be lost if the players bend over and the owners get their way. And the players will have to bend over even harder if games / the whole season is lost.

I don't see how anybody can be optimistic after hearing this. There's nothing about compromises or anything of the sort in there, it's basically "my way or the highway and you'll regret it".

I highly doubt that the reaction of the players will be something along the lines of "ok, where can we sign".

That is 100% due to your ignorance. They have some beefs but like an earlier poster has said, you guys are eating Stern's crap with a dirty spoon. The NBA owners have zero chance of success in this lockout and would be wise to settle. Their threats are baseless and powerless. They will get creamed in court if the players have even borderline competent legal reps. Contrary to popular opinion, it will be the owners that can't hold out in the case of games missed and the THREAT of a loss in court could cost them billions in damages.

Creamed in court for what? if the union decertifies? but since the lockout has already begun, they decertification doesn't come into force from 6 months so the owners get a 6 month period of paying nothing...

As soon as a federal court uncorks the NBA's TV deal, they are some dead fishes. Not only will they lose out on their safety net but they will open themselves up for treble damages for underselling their TV rights in order to have that safety net. I would say that a loss in court could cost them about $1.7 billion.

    Their losses are self-inflicted wounds.
