Things that don't make sense: Steal a 3.50 bottle of water during a riot: 6 months in prison. Keep a woman as a slave: 6 months in prison. Take ~22,000 from the taxpayers to fund your mortgage: Nothing.
The message being "the justice system is really ****ed up?" I'm all for punishment, but the above is just going to further alienate folks... EDIT: I'll stop now.
No you won't, and that 22,000 link is very misleading, while it seems queer he was following the rule of the law. DD
If you are rich you can bend the law for you if you are poor not so much. However those rioters just seemed like a bunch of thugs.
That is why I believe Gambling and prostitution should be legal just to make up for it.... If the gov't want to spend our tax money on their own **** then at least give us weed/gambling/prostitution in return...
You are still missing Rhad's point. His point is that the law is skewed to favor those with money and power.
The fact that that's possible is going to keep fueling feelings of inequality and sparking these outbursts of angry, misdirected violence around the world. DD, how are you missing this?
I am not missing anything, but I think you have to change from within, protest, sure.....but don't riot. They are not equal....MLK understood this..... DD
You have to be kidding me right, you took the conversation that direction with your bits about why they are rioting, when the truth has been that they are just being opportunistic. Yet somehow you took the goal posts in a rich vs poor direction..... Come on now.....be honest...you can't get upset when someone doesn't agree with your points.....and thinks that most of it is not related. DD
Graphic footage of senseless violence. I can't believe there's no one to stop this... Sad they don't allow Death Penalty for these disgusting crimes. This is clearly going too far, remember kids are living in this part of town. They'll never forget this horror.
You're really, really bad at reading comprehension. Or, more likely, really, really bad at admitting you've thoughtlessly acted the fool. I was relating (as others less intellectually limited have pointed out and acknowledged repeatedly) how the system is skewed to the affluent or wealthy, and how the sentencing in this particular instance is only reinforcing that notion. You, being a doofus, walked right into it and looked a fool. And then you changed it back to, "well - they shouldn't be rioting" (ostensibly to gloss past your rather obvious mistake). Which has nothing to do with the point I was making and, in any case, I've agreed with already several times.
