OKC scored 2 in the 9th to grab a 2-1 victory over Tucson. Jacob Goebbert and Robinson Cancel drove in the decisive runs. The recently demoted J.A. Happ went 6, allowing 4 hits, an unearned run, walked 3, and fanned 5. Juan Abreu pitched a 1-2-3 8th inning for the win, striking out 1.

Corpus walked off 1-0 losers to Arkansas in 11. Jason Stoffel allowed both batters he faced in the 11th to reach base, and Mike Trout hit the walk-off double. Kody Hinze and Emerson Frostad had 2 hits each. Paul Clemens got a no-decision for his efforts. Once again, here is his line: 6 2/3 IP, 4 hits, 0 R, 3 BB, 6 K.

Lancaster had the night off, as they are heading home to host San Jose. Andrew Robinson will start for the Jethawks. He will be opposed by Kelvin Marte.

Lexington was shut out by Augusta 5-0. The Legends were held to 4 hits, as Mike Kvasnicka and Ben Orloff had 2 each. Tanner Bushue was roughed up, allowing 5 runs on 7 hits in 2 innings, fanning 2. Murilo Gouvea was the first reliever, and he went 5 shutout innings, allowing 1 hit, 1 walk, and struck out 6.

Tri-City played 2 with the Mahoning Valley Scrappers, and walked off with a 4-3 victory in game 1. That came courtesy of Chris Epps, who hit his first homer as a ValleyCat. The solo shot was his 5th on the season. He also added 1 more RBI. Kellen Kiilsgaard and Neiko Johnson drove in 1 each. Kyle Hallock allowed 2 runs (1 earned) on 6 hits in 5 innings, striking out 4. Ryan Cole allowed MV to tie the game at 3 in the 7th, but got the win when Epps went deep.

In game 2, the ValleyCats held the Scrappers to 1 hit..... until the 7th. They had been trailing 1-0, but allowed that to snowball into a 4-0 deficit and eventually lost by the same margin. Dayan Diaz allowed 1 hit and an unearned run in 3 innings. He walked 4 and struck out 5. Tri-City was held to 4 hits in this game.

3 Greeneville pitchers combined on a 5-hitter in their 5-0 win over Burlington. Luis Alvarez went deep in the 4th, his 2nd of the year. Chan Moon, Jesse Wierzbicki, and Darwin Rivera also drove in a run. Francis Ramirez allowed 3 hits in 5 innings, striking out 4.

The Gulf Coasters were held to 5 hits in a 5-0 loss to the Cardinals. Yonathan Mejia and Jose Fernandez had 2 hits apiece; Jean Carlos Batista had the other. Tom Shirley, a 9th-round pick out of Xavier in 2010, went 3 scoreless, allowing 1 hit and struck out 4. Jose Valdez allowed an unearned run in the 4th for the loss.

The Academy scored 4 runs in the 9th against the Dodgers..... but they were already down 10-0 and needed 7 to tie. 4 drove in 1 each, led by Jose Solano. Edison Frias went 3, allowing 3 runs on 5 hits, walking and fanning 3. Solano pitched a scoreless 8th, allowing 1 hit.

    Chase Davidson promoted to Tri-City...

“@GvilleAstros: We hate to see him go but we wish Chase Davidson all the best as he moves up to @ValleyCats! Bring home another Championship!”

Thats not much of a promotion, but it's better than nothing

Anybody know what kinda stuff Kyle Hallock has, because his numbers are sick
    9 GS
    1.79 ERA
    1.08 Whip
    8.5 K/9
    1.9 BB/9

And he gets ground outs at a 2/1 ratio. Based on the early numbers there's a lot to like.

Any chance of him adding some velocity on to that fastball ?? Does he have a projectable frame ? Becuase even though the fastball isnt the only way to judge a pitcher's potential ... a fastball peaking at 89 will only get you so far.

Interesting day for SP prospects...Perez at TC, Houser at Greenville, Folty at Lex and Obie at CC.

Hallock just turned 23, so not much upside physically. But those numbers suggest they need to get him moving up the ladder quickly, see how he does against age appropriate competition.

If the scouting report is accurate, he's almost a Dallas Keuchel clone. Same body type, and almost identical ratios at Tri-City. Keuchel got started younger though.

Kinda unrelated to recent discussion but man .. what has happened to Tanner Bushue.. he is had a terrible season so far, i thought he had some of the best stuff in the system .. maybe not. Anyone who actually watch games know the deal ?

Adrian Houser had a good outing although short...3.2 innings 3 runs 5Ks..all swinging. Also GO/FO was 4-0. So combine the swinging Ks and groundballs...good outing for the 2nd rd pick. Probably could have gone on, 3 run homer got him in the 4th but his pitch count is probably being closely monitored.

Personally, I like Dayan Diaz, who started last night.

Looks like Juri Perez is out... in 4 1/3, he allowed 4 runs on 5 hits, walking 1 and striking out 6. 1 inherited runner was charged to him. Last I checked, Tri-City was trailing Mahoning Valley 5-2 in the top of the 6th.

Well at least i like the k/bb from Juri tonight i will be itching to read more details about how he gave up the runs...

And i know that Bushue has been injured but i was just wondering if the injury had any lingering effect on his stuff... you said he has been mediocre i hope thats just the rust and not his stuff

I wouldn't worry to much about Bushue, yet. The start before this one, he gave up 4 early runs and then settled down nicely. I want him to get his feet under him again and next season start in Lexington fresh, he is still really young.
