True. But the trick is making sure the water is actually offered (YMMV). Regardless, I (try to) reserve judgement until he refuses to drink. I'm actually not very good at that, which makes this thread mildly amusing as I've managed to paint myself as the welfare-loving-never-blame-the-destitute-for-their-own-actions screwball hippie. Meh. I think what bothered me most in this thread was the repeated implication that this "sub class" was predisposed to violence and greediness and deserved to be "exterminated". Certainly, a lot of them are just giant assholes - but that's hardly class specific. More to the point, I don't think enough "water" is being offered necessarily - the fact that giant economies like the UK and the USA can have so many desperately poor people is, in my opinion, indicative that something is not functioning correctly. Maybe some of that is those folks' own fault, or the fault of a disintegrating family unit or whatever. But I cannot think that's all of it - it's too simplistic and too self-righteous to be reality. Maybe there's not enough water for all the horses.
Well, it the black community wanted respect and fair treatment. It just went down the drain with this incident. It just give the hard working black people a black eye. I'm pretty sure racism towards the black will be much higher now after this.
because we obviously cannot be seen as individuals. Joe Horn, Jasper, etc . . . . those are American examples I am sure they have their own . . . but the point is. . .the circle continues. You hate us for this . . . we hate you for that . .. I treat you this way because of what 'they' did You treat me this way because of what 'they' did and the circle continues. Rocket River
The stuff Cameron's proposing is ridiculous, hypocritical, and brazenly indicative of authoritarian intent. Incredible.
I'm sure Joe Horn saw these two: and immediately thought Hispanics/illegal aliens. At that moment they were black, that's why he belongs in RR's list.
Censoring/banning social media a la Mubarak The irony and destructiveness of his message has not been lost on commentators. Youtube link regarding the police state potential The obvious "slippery slope" and "who watches the watchers" arguments Alternatively, compare Cameron's proposals to the Norwegian response to the terrorist shootings a few weeks back.

Cameron in February: "Freedom of speech & the Internet must be respected “in Tahrir Square as much as Trafalgar Square.” What a goof.
