    Houston Lands 2013 NBA All-Star Game

    HOUSTON - NBA sources told FOX 26 Sports the Houston Rockets and the City of Houston landed the NBA All-Star Game in 2013.

    The game will be played at Toyota Center on Feb. 17, 2013.

    NBA All-Star week will be Feb. 15-17.

    The Rockets and Toyota Center also hosted the game in 2006.

    The Rockets and the city had initially targeted the All-Star game in 2014, but changed their focus to getting the game a year earlier.

    This will be the third time the NBA All-Star Game has come to Houston.

    It was also held in the Astrodome in 1989.

    This will be the sixth time since the NBA-ABA merger in 1977 that the NBA All-Star Game will be played in Texas.

    Rockets officials have not been available for comment.

    One would think the host team would get extra people on there like when Jason Kidd got it 2 years ago over other PGs playing better than him.

    So, the Rox may have an all star that year, whether they deserve it or not.

    not too big on all-star games even if this one is in houston, but what intrigues me and is getting me excited is the potential for a allstart/superstar calibur player coming to/emerging on the rockets pretty soon. i cant think of a city thats hosted an all start game without a star or two on the teams roster. in 06 we had TWO (yao and tmac). looking forward to the future :)

    2006 and 2013.
    Most teams can't even get one until like decades worth of waiting; we got it in less than ten years!!!

    Exactly what I was thinking, getting two within an 8 year period is unreal. Really goes to show that the NBA knows Houston is indeed a big time market where they can showcase the stars. :cool:
