i'm guessing the controls weren't fully operational since the place had been pretty well damaged. He couldnt land it safely no matter what

Saw it and liked it, but want to point out that while Marvel movies are good they fail to capture the depth of character that Nolan has captured. The sequence of Captain America having one last conversation with his love interest, crashing and then waking up in modern NY was so...shallow. The only person who delivered any sort of depth was Tommy Lee Jones in the moment.

They just don't deliver any personal mmmphh.

I thought Spiderman, Thor and ironman did a good job of developing the lead characters.

Captain american could have done a little better but Captain america just isnt as deep as batman in general. Captain doesnt have an internal conflict or an alter ego, etc.

    Cap is pretty conflicted.

But yes, Ironman did a great job of developing Tony Stark and I thought Spider-man was solid as well. Thor was highly enjoyable, but I didn't think Thor or Natalie Portman conveyed much depth. Heimdall was outstanding, as were Loki and Odin though.

I wish they would stop forcing a love story into these movies especially with the avengers movie on the horizon. What are they going to do with all the women?

He was too weak to do a push-up and too weak to run, let alone participate in any combat training. He was picked for the Super Soldier Program precisely because he was weak, yet he had more heart, drive, and compassion than anyone else.

They showed virtually nothing in the way of training, which is pretty preposterous considering his newer, super-strong and super-fast body and abilities.

There was no reason for this movie being as bad as it was. In my humble opinion, of course.

He didn't really get any combat training...

Basically once the serum worked he became a bond pusher for the feds. He never had any combat experience until he rescued the soldiers. That said, the dude is super strong with super reflexes and speed. It isn't like he was using some advanced combat training. He basically overpowered people and used a shield to protect himself.

well they didnt show him take a dump but i'm not going to assume captain america doesnt crap.

    Point being,...
yes, he was weak but he was still partaking in the army drills to the best of his ability (e.g. joggin, obstacle courses, etc). It's not a far off assumption that he did learn some to shoot a gun and did get trained in hand to hand combat at some point, albeit he probably failed at it because he was weak he still gained that knowledge.

Ever know someone who was a phenomenal athlete? They could watch a sport played and pick it up instantly, and be good at it? That's what the serum did for Cap. Turned him into the best athlete on the planet. He could do anything within his physical limits.

And again....it's a comic book movie. Suspend some belief here, guys.

Home sick with a chest cold from hell, rented and watched it....I thought it was pretty well done and enjoyable.

They had some incredibly hokey material to draw from, and I thought the way they reimagined a lot of it (Cap as a poster child, Bucky as a legit soldier, etc) was nicely done. Like Thor, I couldn't fathom how this could translate, but it did. Unlike Green Lantern, which had so much potential just to be pissed away (there's a film to complain about an untrained guy inexplicably going black belt after one day of <strike>training</strike> getting his boot whooped...and then taking out a mega threat that was too much for the best of the best pros)

    As far as the ladies,
Most will have a lady thing happening in the Avengers:
    Hawkeye-Widow
The nurse at the end of CA was the (grand)daughter of Peggy Carter
Gwenyth Paltrow is in there, according to IMDB
Natalie Portman is apparently one of the lone wet blankets, and no Betty Ross, it seems
