Penn isn't quite West Philly....and I did spend 4 years back when it was far more sketchy than it is today (now Penn is more like a prep school) as it's my alma mater. The Flash mobs in the article were in center city which is on the other side of the river. Penn is the start of West Philly (right across from Center City) but the areas that were bad are further in and actually have improved a lot over the years through gentrification. So I am not sure what your experience was but to each their own. As far as city campuses go, it sure beat Columbia, Drexel, Temple or most other ones I've been to.

Furthermore, this is certainly not an isolated incident--we've heard of these types of killings for years! Logical conclusion: this is an epidemic! An issue this important clearly needs its own thread. Everyone needs to be aware that white people are on the prowl--I mean seriously, they're everywhere! And YOU could be their next victim! Why hasn't the media jumped on this story and why haven't white people been condemning the acts?! Their silence obviously makes them complicit in the acts themselves.
