A still photo is a way to judge a director's ability to direction action? How's that again?

not much of a surprise. TDK is overrated, and as much as I criticize premature judgement this doesn't look too great

You have convinced me that you are much smarter than 95% of other movie fans! I have secured seed funding so that you can make your very own Batman film! I can't wait to get started! (You will have artistic freedom but I only ask that we cast Harvey Keitel as Batman.)

    Article from Yahoo:
    --- --- ---
Anne Hathaway will be matching wits with Batman himself in Christopher Nolan's upcoming "The Dark Knight Rises," but right now she's facing off against Internet naysayers who responded tepidly to the first photo of her in her Catwoman suit.

"I was not going to admit it," the 28-year-old actress told MTV in a sit-down interview. "I asked someone to send me a few reactions [to the photo], and I happen to know that MTV's reaction was 'meh.' "

MTV called the photo "underwhelming" and "unflattering," but Internet commenters were far harsher (surprise, surprise). When Yahoo Movies posted the pic, commenters derided it as "weak," "cheap-looking" and some demanded to know where the "cat part of the costume" was.

Even worse, an US Magazine poll asking "which star was the sexiest Catwoman?" put the Academy-Award nominated actress in last place, with Michelle Pfeiffer taking 52 percent, Halle Berry earning 37 percent, and the "Princess Diaries" star at 11 percent.

Hathaway's response? "If you didn't like the photo, you only see about a tenth of what the suit can do," she teased. "And if you did like the photo, you have excellent taste."

Considering there's not much too the costume other than skintight black leather (you can catch a sideview of the suit here) and those 3D-esque goggles, it's probable that this photo isn't of the complete Catwoman costume. After all, Selina Kyle starts out as a mere cat burglar before developing her style and powers.

Overall, considering Christopher Nolan's past track record with the franchise, fans should probably retract their claws before tearing his take on Catwoman apart.

    Cool send me the money.

Fanboys need to get their head out of their ass. Just because Nolan is a good story teller doesn't mean he's a great director.

Who say I was judging by that photo? I was talking about the youtube brawl video. Batman Begins and TDK actions were damn mediocre. That's his main weaknesses. Great story teller and character development but badly lacking in action choreography and editing.

I think there's something to be said about the authenticity of the action scenes in these movies. Nolan doesn't sprinkle his films with tons of cgi, and that is certainly a welcome change. In Dark Knight, the hospital explosion and the 18 wheeler flipping were pretty bad ass. The Tumbler chase sequence in Begins was definitely memorable. The fight choreography I can concede may be somewhat forgettable, but it certainly does not bring down the film in the least.

    Heath Ledger.

    Aaron Eckhart.

The psychological warfare of the Joker.

    The pencil trick.

Rachel Dawes climactic scene. You know it's coming, but it's still incredibly tense and riveting and emotional.

The Joker on the loose, sticking his head out of the patrol car as they're speeding through Gotham's streets.

    The opening heist.

What made Dark Knight so special is that it wasn't a superhero movie. It was a crime drama with a superhero in it.

This is making me want to go watch it again. Been awhile.

Who goes to see Batman for fight choreography? What there was, early in Batman Begins, was fairly believable, and by that I mean, to me, just about perfect for that film.

Go see a martial arts film if you want whizzing fists and grunting. Go see a Michael Bay film if you want to see vehicles flying through the air in non-physical ways with gorgeous orange explosions. Meh.

    Oh, and here you go:

    There's some Batman fight choreography.

I actually love the fighting in the Batman movies. I prefer that they are not doing insane fighting moves like the guy in the Transporter or crap like that. The fact that you think the "choreography" is bad is probably why it feels more realistic. More like a fight, less like a dance.

Maybe some people want an overall great film? So you're telling me they can't put a real good believable action together? I want to go to a film that have a great overall experiences. Nolan's Batman are great movies but it could do better with proper action sequences and editing. Same thing with Inception. Fantastic movie but the Tom Hardy action sequence was so amateurishly put together. People make me laugh saying they don't go to see most movies for the action. Mostly if you have great action for your movie it will usually make up for the terrible script or acting or whatever. A great action is just an icing on top of an already good movie.
