    Yeah me to....although when democrats make similar comments the media seems to sweep it under the table or at a minimum downplay it. Like Harry Reids comments about Obama being notably "light-skinned" and having "no Negro dialect unless he wanted to have one."

    Just a simple apology was all it took, but if a non-democrat had said this its calls for resignation and hate crimes....

    Are you white?

    Because if you are you response makes sense.

    You make the assumption that black people should care what a white guy says.

    Let me give you a clue. It's not that important. Some random white politician and it is supposed make the president of the united states feel disrespected. GOD that's a laughter. I mean the whole thing is a big freaking joke.

    The problem is, there was no racial slur directed at the president. The congressman referenced a well known (even more so when he was growing up) folk story that they have made Disney cartoons out of. That other people use the same term in a derogatory manner does not mean that the perfectly correct use of the term Tar Baby is unacceptable. That would be like saying a Spanish speaker could never again use the term negro (or a German schwarz), just because other people use it as a racial slur. That the overly sensitive try to read in something which is not there does not make it news.

    Look, I'm not saying it's some signal of the end of days, either, but I can't see how anyone acts like it's completely benign. It was a poor choice of words, and he's doing himself and his party no favors by going there. Nothing more.

    Per Wikipedia;

    Walt Disney Studios released Song of the South, which contains the Tar-Baby story, in 1946.The film was never released on VHS in North America due to issues relating to race. The ride Splash Mountain, which is in four of the Walt Disney theme parks, is based on the stories by Uncle Remus. However, instead of the Tar-Baby, Br'er rabbit is captured in a beehive. The changes may have been made to avoid similar racial controversies that prevented Song of the South from being released on home video.

    Even if it is about race, who cares? The ultra right is crazy. They simply hate liberals and hate democrats. I've never seen this kinda of hate directed from one end of the pollitical spectrum towards the other. Liberals to Bush was a bit over the top but at least they had a legitimate reason with the Iraq war.

    This is nuts. Obama is trying to compromise and lead everyone and these nut bags are just attacking him incessantly. It doesn't matter what Obama's race is, or what his policies or views are - they are hating and tarring the guy because he's a democrat.
