After the lockout the Heat would consider signing Michael Redd or Tracy McGrady

Mcgrady has become a poor poor poor poor poor poor poor poor man's Lebron in that he is mainly a distributor. A big PG who finds the open man.

I think the signing makes sense. I'm sure a year in Detroit helped get T-Macs ego in check. If he can fit in and spell Lebron for 10 minutes a game this may actually be what he has always wanted and help the Heat give Lebron a breather.

But, will Juwan Howard be back? He's the true wild card to next year's heat team.

I'd would put Tracy at PG in 4th quarter crunch time.

Protect the ball, run the play, or dribble drive pass, Tracy can do all these things.

    Just don't shoot as much.

Yeah, blame Spo when The King is afraid to touch the ball in crunch time. Sounds logical.

The former Rocket that team should be after is Aaron brooks. Would do wonders for them to have a decent shooter/scorer like that at pg.

personally i think mcgrady would suit miami, it would give them a backup point forward so the offensive structure doesn't need to change drastically when lebron sits.

Good call. AB will help the Heat tremendously b/c his speed/quickness will wreak havoc due to the defensive attention on Lebron/Wade.

The problem is McGrady is pretty worthless without the ball in his hands. He just stands around, does nothing and takes the play off. In the 4th quarter, do you take the ball out of Wade's hands? Same question regarding LeBron.

I agree with an earlier poster that McGrady's best role on the Heat would be playing with other reserves and making them better. Put him on the court with two other "ball hogs" who are top-5 NBA players and he isn't very effective.

If AB could learn to play off the ball, he might be a good fit on offense for the Heat. But he would get lit up on the other end.

He can't be worse than Mike Bibby. I think Lebron/Wade are such a great defensive tandem, and the Heat in general are so quick/athletic on the perimeter that they can afford to hide an AB/Tmac/Bibby/bad defensive player.

Their problem last year for the entire year, even in the playoffs, was offensive creativity outside of Lebron/Wade. AB would have destroyed the Mavs' zone last year with ease.

But I think Brooks' asking price is too high for the Heat.

If they can get Mike Miller healthy and play like 2 years ago, they probably are good enough to win it all. Hell, they should have won it if Lebron didn't play like a sucker in the Finals.

He is a decent spot up 3pt shooter. And whatever you talk about can't be worse than what Mike Bibby did in his 15-20 minute stint in the entire playoffs. It's still a HUGE upgrade.

Other than that, he might not play much in the 4th since Chalmers will play anyways since he's part of their best defensive lineup. Tmac, however, will provide a good 10-12 minutes, and that's all he will be asked to do if he signs with Miami.

    Please! Oh humble Darwin!

    Send Tracy to the Heat!
    Unite the ball-less!
    And unite their fans!
    They deserve eachother!

Great fit for tmac. He will get pushed and get a feel of winning. Heat organization is very discipline in defense and won't tolerate nonsense. He is an improvement over mike miller.

The Heat were only 2 games away from winning the finals, so they need to add quality not quantity for it's bench.

Going and getting 2/3rd tier Centers or Point guards are not going to get them over the hump. Getting quality players in Prince Battier etc, is the better way to go.

Here what in the know Heat people are saying..

Q: If the Heat think they need to sign Shane Battier is that not an admission that Mike Miller is not filling his role, to back up the 2 and 3 hit threes and play defense? — Mike.

A: First, the Heat have not said anything. It merely is speculation about a possible approach, an approach that Battier apparently has interest in. No, such an approach by the Heat would be an acceptance that Wade, LeBron plus a pair of quality wings might be the way to go, instead of forcing a second-tier point guard into the mix.

Q: We always hear how the Heat need a point guard. And we also are always hearing how Wade is a natural point guard and needs to assume the role. Then we hear that LeBron is really a point guard a la Magic Johnson. So, we have two point guards that don't want to play the position. If seems to me it's time for Riley to have a conversation with a few people. -- David.

A: This is the point I've been trying to make for nearly a year now. The Heat have the position covered offensively, which is why it would make the greatest sense to find someone who can thrive at the position defensively, and perhaps nail a 3-pointer or two. I think a wing defender should be a greater priority.

Q: Miami is clearly interested in such veteran wings as Hill, Battier and Prince, but what about Vince Carter? I've never been a big fan and am not sure he'd be as good of a fit with this team as those other names mentioned, but he's possibly the most talented of that group and I'm just curious if you think Miami has him higher on its list than maybe some realize. -- Paul.

A: I don't, if only because each of the other three brings a defensive component to the mix. Rarely have the Heat accepted a reserve solely as an offense-only threat (as noted with the playoff disappearances of James Jones and Eddie House). With Battier, Hill or Prince there also would be an element of deterrence. That said, Vince at the minimum clearly cannot be dismissed.

Neither of those really seem to fit well, unless they want McGrady playing point guard.

They'll end up getting someone else, they need a center more than anything.

How do the heat still have money to sign a T.Prince or Battier! This salary S*** is complete BS to me. They go out at spend 80% of their money on 3 players but yet they can still sign Miller to a lucrative contract a still say they want to sign Battier or T.Prince who will probably go for like 7 mill a yr. As for Battier I can see him bringing in 5 mill. WTF!!! EXPLAIN IT TO MEEEE!!!!

If Heat get T-mac, they will win the championship. Book it, mark it down or signature me.
