Here you have the games of Lithuania. I totally disagree with all the criticism I'm reading. That was expected, Lithuania is playing at home and they have an opportunity to do something big. They have a core of big guys that has worked greatly for them during he last decade. They are all big, strong, tough and experienced guys. If you are the coach of that team you must have guts to cut a Lavrinovic, Javtokas, Petravicius, Songaila (btw he said that he retires from the national team after this year, so this is his last tournament -Donatas will replace him-), Jankunas... Definitely the easiest and probably smartest decision for him right now is to cut the young guy alleging need of experience.

I personally will stick with what I've seen of him at the games and the comments from his coach. I've seen physical improvements and a very positive global attitude. He has competed, and his coach is saying that he did the same at practices. Considering also that Lowry said the same about him while he was in Houston, we should be positive right now with Donatas because that topic was one of the matters that made him fall in the draft. Talent is there for sure.

Now Kemzura must decide 2 more cuts and should not surprise you to see Jonas go like Donatas. And if he makes the team anyway he won't see a lot of minutes during the tournament.

Here's the game from yesterday. D-Mo scores 11 points in what appears to be limited time, and looks very fluid and comfortable scoring the ball.

    His baskets are at 3:10, 3:45, 3:52, 6:40, and 7:00.

*Note that his jumpers were both left handed, his two layups were right handed, and his dunk was left handed. Very promising sign for a big man to be deft with both hands like that.

I always wondered why you have no vowels in your name.

Speaking of which, is there really 192 other people with the same name as you, forcing you to select 193.

There were 5 other players that play the same position (4/5) as Donatas and they are all older, stronger and FAR more experienced. There are less players like Jonas on the team (3/4), and therefore he is harder to cut.

People can "hate" on Donatas all they want, and he has certainly had issues 3-4 years ago. However, I have heard nothing negative about his work ethic or attitude in the last few years. His body is still developing and he has a highly developed skill set... and a very promising back to the basket game.

He may be a bust, but he seems promising to me.

from what i saw, Valanciunas is more of an around the basket type of scorer and Donatas can score from anywhere on the floor. Donatas's shot looks pretty good from around 15-18 ft. He didn't play the minutes that Valanciunas played.

Also, contrary to what someone posted earlier, i don't see them cutting Jonas. It looks like he is their primary scorer.

I'm not going to over react over a player being cut from his national team. He is only 20 and in Europe they don't tend to respect younger players who are developing. I'll wait and see how he does here.

Ok, he may never be a superstar but he definitely has potential. His skills seem to be able to translate to the NBA game.

    as should we all.

It's established fact that most Euroleague coaches go with experience over potential. Little surprise that they would cut a 20 yr old that plays at a position already loaded with veterans.

Besides, contrary to what delusional posters like ohms thinks, the talent level over there isn't good enough to judge how a Euro player will do in the NBA.

I'll wait till I see the guy playing against *real* competition in the league where the best in the world play. Any other talk re: bust or stud is pure speculation.
