don't worry about getting a house a little smaller than you are use to, it's not like you are moving to New York or San Francisco.

take your time looking around. Go up one weekend and explore the town.

We decided to drive up to Austin yesterday and stayed the night. The trip didn't go as well as we hoped. We drove by several houses in the North part of town, but didn't really come across any areas we liked. We also drove out to Round Rock briefly and didn't like it at all out there, but we really didn't drive around too much because we were pretty frustrated by that point.

One part of town we did really like was S Congress area, but I'm not sure if a commute from there is realistic to Round Rock. Really bummed that we haven't found more, but the search continues. Gonna look on the west side next.

LOL - still can't get into our area KC? This is one of the best reasons to look at Circle C, we keep out the folks like KC who run meth labs in their attics.

    ;)

We went up to Austin yesterday so I wanted to drop an update in here. We found a place in Clarksville that we submitted an application for yesterday. It's a little smaller than we are used to (1400 sq ft), but it looks to be near everything and from everything I've read it's a great area to be in Austin. It was just put on the market yesterday and the realtor told us that places around there don't last long, so hopefully we jumped in at the right time.

As for the commute, it's close to Mopac so I'm hopeful that my commute out to Round Rock won't be too bad. Thanks all for your help in this thread and I look forward to a meetup sometime soon once we get up there in a month or so, seeing as we know absolutely nobody in the area :).

Bump, need advice on which provider to use for internet and TV up in Austin.

Right now I'm a DirecTV customer for television. While they allow it at my new place, I'm only leasing so I'm not sure I want to mess with having to get a dish installed and then removing it when I leave. My other options they told me are Time Warner and Grande Communications (wtf is this?).

    - Are the Texans games shown on CBS/Fox normally in Austin? If not this may be a reason for me to stick with DirecTV, so that I can get Sunday Ticket.

    - How does the internet and TV service compare between Time Warner and Grande? I was planning to go with Time Warner for internet all along, but I've never heard of Grande so I don't know what kind of reputation they have in the area.

    Thanks!

ATT Uverse is ok. They usually have some good deals running too.

If you can even get it out where you are. But it's pretty widespread here so I don't see why you wouldn't be able to.

Grande is a local cable/Internet/phone/security company. Usually cheaper than tw. Tw is tw. No NFL network on tw also.

There's always the chance the texans get bumped for Colt or Vince or somehow the cowboys. Texans are low on the totem pole but are slowly moving up

KEYE did better last season...even when the suckitude started. You won't get any coverage during the week on tv or radio here. All cowboys all the time on every station.

I have tw cable and internet. Speeds are good for me. We don't do a lot of downloading. Cable is good, other than the lack of NFL Network. I like a lot of the features and no upcharge for HD.

Clarksville, right near the downtown area.

I didn't realize TW doesn't have the NFL Network, so screw that. Looks like the current residents have Uverse, so I'll probably just go with that.

Down almost 30 feet from normal and dropping. The view will still be good you just may not have water access depending on where you rent. Also it's going to be a much longer walk from water to house than normal.

Texans were showed on CBS all season last year, even when the season was meaningless. Should be the same this year, fox carries the cowgirls. Texans have 2fox games this year, if the boys play at the same time they'll be bumped. Usually the texans play at noon and cowgirls at 3, shouldn't be much of an issue.
