I had a similar idiot in a large truck they couldn't succesfully navigate back into my parked car about a month ago. Said idiot also stated he never felt or saw anything despite the fact there were 4 eyewitnesses and video surveillance he tried to state that it never happened. $800 damage.

What I am wondering is why do pompous idiots who have no need of a large truck, who never haul or tow anything, and evidently cannot handle driving a larger vehicle still purchase them?

What else are they gonna do with the money? Throw it away at "education" so they can learn useless crap like what "moocher" means? Please.

Truck buying contributes to stimulating our economy. You cut taxes on rich folks and they buy the trucks and force "moochers" out of our country.

Granted OP sounds young, entitled, and naive, people who try to profit from car insurance claims are scum. I've had it happen to me once, and another guy tried claiming $20,000 from my insurance when the accident was his fault. Fortunately, I had a witness supporting me, and he couldn't prove I was liable even though his witness lied for him.

OP, you are liable for the accident but you shouldn't pay more than necessary to fix the bumper. If they are trying to claim more damages, you have reason to fight it.

    Ignorant and stuck up?

Hardly, I rear ended this car, admitted my fault. My insurance paid for it. Now they are trying to come back and reopen a claim using some type of made up injury just so they can get some $. People who do stuff like this are nothing but low-lifes who are greedy/selfish and are a burden on society.

OP sounds like a spoiled douchebag.

You drive a 2008 blah blah blah, but they drive an '02 POS?

I hope they sue the rich boy pants off you, and I hope they win.

Don't drive a truck if you don't know how to drive.

And seek counseling before you become a lifelong douche.

EDIT: Also, before I forget- it's could'VE and would'VE, not "could of" and "would of."

Seems like if you're 20, you should know that.

    Can't spell, can't drive.

    You lose.

Is that a question, or that a statement?

Are you asking if they're trying to do it? Or are they actually doing it and you're asking for validation of your opinion?

You have rights to be mad at whats going on. But just as much as they're being opportunists, maybe you're being as much an opportunist in judging people as drains on society. Sounds kinda uppity

My goodness people. It doesn't have to be a class war. They've made a claim on your insurance. Tell the insurance company what you know. The insurance company will make a decision. No big deal. There's no need to be mad at the claimants; they want money out of the insurance company; they don't have a beef with the OP. It doesn't matter if the claimants are poor or foreigners, and it doesn't matter if the OP has money. Just go through the process. The insurance company will probably deny it anyway, since that's their MO and it's not like a poor Mexican couple is going to be able to sue them.

What did piss me off was when Enterprise wanted to make a claim on my insurance for "discovered damage" to a rental car that I didn't cause. That's a lot worse because (if the internet is to be believed) they have a systematic process of preying on their customers for insurance pay-outs.

Why I hate wealthy young white kids:

They drive around in tanks, destroying the environment, and increasing our reliance on oil. They then run over our smaller, more fuel efficient vehicles because the are incapable of driving such a large vehicle, and then complain because our vehicles weren't designed to no not dent when much larger vehicles run into us. They then assume we are trying to take advantage of them because the insurance company calls them again.

Actually, I was a young wealth white kid not that long ago, I just had a 1995 Ford Ranger and didn't b**** about it every time I got into an accident that was my fault.

I have only one problem with the OP...

There is no 2008 F-150 Platinum. It wasn't introduced until the 2009 re-design of the line.

    2008 F-150 trim options

For the rest of you, I drive a F-150 super cab as well...though just a plain ol' XLT. I don't live on the ranch or in the country. However, with my family and house, I find that I use the truck part of it quite often. I'm well aware of the mileage I get on it and do my best to maximize my gas...especially when it's costing over $80 to fill up.

Just because someone is white, young, and drives a truck like this doesn't automatically put him in the d-bag column. Looks to me like he took the time to handle this responsibly. I would have bought a Platinum if I could have afforded it. It's a damn nice truck.

Thanks, up until 2 months ago I drove a 2004 Volvo. I'm not a fan of trucks nor would I advocate anyone buying one.

The only reason I have a truck is because my previous car was beginning to have far to many problems that weren't worth fixing. And this car was available for a cheap rate because it had previously been a company car and we just paid the rest of the lease off. If the oppertunity presented itself I'd rather have a Civic and get 35+MPG instead of 14 and spending 100$ everytime to fill my car up.

It amazes me how I'm coming off as the *******/douchebag?

I did nothing wrong in this situation, the fact is these people got their car fixed through my insurance. Now they are coming back and trying to claim injuries when they weren't even in the car when it was hit. They were simply standing next to it.

Sorry but this couple are low-life and nothing will change that.

Call me a douchebag or whatever but i'm probably one of the nicest people you could meet. You all can continue to judge me off a partial rage post I did after I get a call from my insurance saying these people are trying to rip money off from myself.

You hit their car and you're complaining?

    emotional distress

    n. an increasingly popular basis for a claim of damages in lawsuits for injury due to the negligence or intentional acts of another. Originally damages for emotional distress were only awardable in conjunction with damages for actual physical harm. Recently courts in many states, including New York and California, have recognized a right to an award of money damages for emotional distress without physical injury or contact. In sexual harassment claims, emotional distress can be the major, or even only, harmful result. In most jurisdictions, emotional distress cannot be claimed for breach of contract or other business activity, but can be alleged in cases of libel and slander. Evidentiary problems include the fact that such distress is easily feigned or exaggerated, and professional testimony by a therapist or psychiatrist may be required to validate the existence and depth of the distress and place a dollar value upon it.
