I've made a pretty penny betting against a few well-placed companies. LNKD is finally going down! but it took the dow panic slide for it to do so. huh.

At least there's that to thank the Republicans for, their endless drive towards nonsensical economic policy will probably doom the nation and by extension the world, but it was so predictable that they would f**k things up, that I'm guessing a lot of people are ahead of the curve and making their little profits.

Probably why it's sliding so hard right now.

Also, I find it amusing Basso that you use stock indices as some kind of generic index to gauge economic performance. They don't quite work that way, but if you were to operate solely on that basis, then TARP, the stimulus, and QE2 were unqualified successes.

Dendreon takes down an entire industry...

Dendreon Corp (DNDN.O) lost two thirds of its market value on Thursday after abandoning its forecast for its debut drug, prostate cancer vaccine Provenge, and shocking its biggest backers on Wall Street.

Dendreon said late on Wednesday it could not deliver on promised sales of the high-priced drug because doctors weren't confident enough about getting reimbursed.

hmmm, wonder why that might be.

If Obama wants to "save" the stocks, he should fix the European Union, as worriesover their current state are driving the stocks down.

I guess with OHMSS gone, we need someone else to start trolling now? Basso's pretty much reached that level.

meh, either way, it's a funny thing to point out. Isn't just him who does it either. Someone needs to remind conservatives/Republicans not to use the stock index to measure things and justify their arguments.

what, since Obamacare is too conservative and doesn't focus on preventative care? Perhaps there should be a public option. One that can save, oh, 45,000 lives a year too.

oh yeah, forgot to qualify that. AMERICAN lives.

    There, you care now.

my argument was about the jarring juxtaposition of Teh Once's birthday bash, and the very real pain the economy is in. the stock market is but one indicator. the jobs report, due tomorrow, is another. wonder what it'll show? would you short the jobs report?

Would you emphasize cutting government spending during a sliding unemployment situation, and a near-recessionary environment, and then try to tack on a balanced budget amendment that nearly led to several states collapsing?

Would you short America? I'm sure the Republicans are. Or maybe their lack of formal financial/business/economic training is finally catching up to them.

And Bush took vacations. I mean, at best what you're complaining about is that it looks bad ( like Bush taking vacations), and that's not something that really matters to me. And I mean, come on, think about who you're comparing him to. You could at least Godwin this by observing that Hitler spent pretty much most of his time at his villa in the mountains instead of in Berlin.

Well, I mean he's become even more annoying. He's never reached the level of OHMSS or some of the other trolls on the GARM from my perspective, but he's starting to get there.

Amazing how quickly things fell apart when the GOP took over the House and stopped the government from actually accomplishing anything.

The Tea Partiers are a mass of completely deluded simpletons who, unable to deal with the complexity of the modern world, **** their own pants and start insisting that the world itself is just as simplistic and dumbed-down and their own conception of it.

Because the Republicans held up the government over the debt limit and a part of the bargain they demanded was a medicare provider cut trigger if the super committee deal doesn't come to fruition?

Who do you think the medicare providers needing reimbursement for a prostate drugs are?
