If a Republican is elected he will replace Kennedy on the court. Boom. Roe will probably be overturned in its entirety if that candidate is anything like Bush's appointments. Scalia is getting older as well. The next election decides the fate of Roe.
You do realize this is not contract work. Supreme Court Justices are termed for life, brah. They choose when they are replaced, not the President.
You would choose bat***** crazy just for that one reason? If I felt as strongly as you about abortion and my choices were someone who doesnt want to outlaw it and Bachmann, I would just not vote. Seriously, that woman running this country would be the end for sure.
Kennedy is on record as saying he's not retiring until a Republican is in office. See what Souter and Stevens just did for an example.
We'd be fine. Unless of course you were a Rolling Stone "journalist". Then you'd probably have one or two heart attacks.
So the next election cycle determines Roe, but since Obama gets re-elected, Kennedy now holds the key to overturning it. Brilliant. Holding the entire judiciary, their career, and those of their peers hostage over one piece of legislation just might defy their duties and responsibilities as a jurisprudent. Bulletproof reasoning to vote for Bachmann.
oooooo kay. SO you say, but I have actually listened to her speak about things, my opinion of her is not based on someone else's opinion.....and my opinion is that she is BAT SHEET CRAZY. I havent read Rolling Stone since the 80s. so dont go throwing that weaksauce lib-label crap at me.
twhy77 - if you vote for Bachmann because of that single issue, I will personally impregnate 28 women and then do everything in my power to force all of them to have abortions. It doesn't matter if Bachmann wins or not - if you vote for her because of that single issue I will carry out my devious Satanic plan. Do the right thing twhy77.
Sorry assumed your opinion was on that Tabib (sp?) piece someone put up here. Don't get me wrong, I think she is the worst Republican candidate- inarticulate, doesn't understand the Western Conservative tradition, yet still a better option than Obama. I don't think I will be faced with this problem though, as many conservatives feel the way I do about her. The whole point of the post wasn't to argue about what a moron Bachmann is but to urge Christie to run.
Re: Christie running for President I wonder if William Howard Taft's bath tub is till in the White House.
I read through about 5 paragraphs before I started to realize he was playing fast and loose with "facts" and anecdotal statements. It's fine though, I'm really not a big fan of Bachmann. It was a rather Fox Newsish article, and I was studying for the bar so I decided not to waste time on the rest of it.
First off, Bachmann was pretty clearly in the "Let's default now" camp over the last few weeks, so that is one very big way in which we would not be fine. I know Bachmann from actually living in Minnesota right now, and everyone in the state knew she was nuts before the country knew about her. It's not like people didn't know Bachmann is a fundamentalist absolutely bat**** person before that Rolling Stones article, you know. The only real difference between Bachmann and Palin is that the latter is somewhat tempered by the fact that she's in this to get as much money and fame as possible, while the former has no inhibitions whatsoever, as she literally thinks she's God's agent.
I'm not sure how you quoted me on that, but I didn't say it. twhy77 did. I know it was unintentional, on your part, because we are obviously in agreement about Rep. Bachmann's potential for President.
i don't hold no truck w/ god, of any particular persuasion, but, imho, 'tis better to think oneself god's agent, that to think oneself god. or, bill ayers' agent.
basso, last I heard political signatures were banned because they can be seen in the other forums. I AM SO TOTALLY GOING TO TATTLE ON U~~~~~~!!!!!
