The texans still managed to move the ball well without AJ, but yeah, obviously losing him does hurt.

Another vet CB is unlikely unless they just want another body back there. At this point, there isnt a vet CB that is able to be had that can actually start...not to mention the texans are just about spent in terms of money.

That's not bad, considering we haven't "restructured the entire team" yet.

Kubiak: ``Earl Mitchell jumped out at me. It’s fun to watch a guy come out in his 2nd yr & be so much more comfortable in what he’s doing.''

I think Earl is going to do what they thought Okoye could do... use his speed to penetrate and disrupt plays. He showed glimpses last year.

I was just looking at the roster...can't believe the texans have 7 colorado st. players.

I understand people are worried about our depth at WR and CB but every team in the league would be in trouble if they lost their star players. Like the colts right now worried about Peyton. Imagine Arizona without Fitzgerald. Let's just hope and pray they stu healthy.

wr at least has a group of average to above average guys on the depth chart, they can fill in fine. But they only have ONE competent corner on the team in Joseph, anyone on the current roster starting next to him is not a good thing

Well Casey better be all that's advertised and more if he wants to hang on to his job, because my boy Vickers is a BEAST!

casey won't be the starting FB in the pure sense, but i think he will get snaps and can be productive in certain situations.

Casey adds versatility. He isnt a pure FB.

Vickers is more of a pure FB. He isnt as god of a lead blocker as vonta, but he is still very capable but Vickers is more well rounded.

regardless of who is the "starter" both guys serve an important purpose and will/should contribute.

Ravens signed Bernard "Bone Crusher" Pollard. The dude can't cover anybody but that defense sure has some hard hitters.

Quite a guantlet to run through: Ngata to Lewis to Reed and Pollard.

I knew that was coming. Good fit for him, I believe.

    Scouts Inc. post-lockout grades...

    http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/6821084/nfl-post-lockout-grades-every-afc-team

    Houston Texans

Key additions: Johnathan Joseph, Danieal Manning, Mike Brisiel (re-signed), Jacoby Jones (re-signed), Matt Leinart (re-signed)
Key losses: Vonta Leach, Amobi Okoye, Dan Orlovsky, Bernard Pollard
Analysis: I'm usually very reluctant when teams decide to switch their defensive personnel. But in this case -- seeing how Houston has handled it in the draft and free agency -- I am quite excited about the improvement that is coming on this side of the ball as the Texans make the transition from a 4-3 to a 3-4. Plus, Houston couldn't have gotten much worse than how it played on defense in 2010.
The team has filled needs extremely well while making this schematic transformation. Adding Joseph and Manning to a historically poor secondary is exceptional work, and both cover men have enough versatility in their game to allow Wade Phillips to run a wide array of coverages. Joseph is the bigger name player, but Manning had a very good season in Chicago last year. Brisiel is a vastly underrated player, and keeping him allows this excellent offensive line to create further continuity. The only big loss is Leach, who will deal a blow to the Texans' rushing attack. There are other lead blocking fullbacks in this league, but none like Leach.
    Grade: B+

glad he caught on somewhere. I do love the dudes intensity but his pass coverage was exposed. having him playing up close and ed roaming behind will work well for them at times.

About a month ago I looked at the point spreads for week 1. Indy was at -1. I looked at them again today and now the Texans are -2.5. Vegas must like what we did during free agency.
