To be fair, there were other reports (besides McClain) that Warren would play for around the minimum if he were close to home and on a playoff contender. Of course, Warren ended up with neither. McClain was duped, but he wasn't the only one.

Yet again, as with 99.9% of cases... it's about the money. imo, sportswriters as a whole hate accepting that reality, because it makes for much more boring discussions and narratives than the supposed "other factors" that they always allege are at play.

Can we please stop reporting on Bum Phillips? This is more useless than the last time he was mentioned as walking into the Texans facilities.

Glad they signed Vickers I still want a better 2nd corner but I guess this greed is getting to me. I don't know know anyone else besides Carlos Rodgers who would be available that is worth anything.

2 yrs, $3 million for Vickers. 500k signing bonus per Mcclain.

Much more reasonable than what Vonta got, and I don't think we'll see a drop-off at all.

Problem is Texans are okay with just making the playoffs. The Eagles and all the other north east teams only have superbowl in there mind. They need to trade for another corner. Kareem Jackson is complete crap. I put him in the same league as an Amobi Okoye. Hope the Texans dont take forever like they did with him to figure it out. Im sure they will though. You are only as strong as your weakest link and KaReamed is a terribly weak link.

Yes, you should definitely judge every player's entire career by their first year. Especially at corner, which is one of the toughest positions in the league to adjust to. Nnamdi Asomugha wasn't even good enough to be on the field in his first two NFL seasons - that guy really sucks, right?

By the way, these "other northeast teams" that apparently have Super Bowl aspirations the Texans don't have. Would you really prefer the offseason of the Jets (resigning Cromartie, losing Edwards, Brad Smith and Damien Woody, adding a 34-year-old, just-out-of-prison Plaxico Burress) or Patriots (trading for two aging vets with zero 2010 track records) over signing Johnathan Joseph and Daniael Manning? Really?

I know it's a popular saying, but I don't see how this is true at all.

Now if we can get Ty Warren on the cheap, this offseason will pretty much have been letter-perfect.

Yeah, I get real tired of all the Kareem hate. Guy was a rookie playing the 2nd hardest position to learn in football (behind QB) and was forced into not only being a starter, but being the #1 starter. With a completely inept defensive coaching staff. I don't think Deion Sanders in his prime could succeed in that environment.

I'm really hoping he proves some people wrong this year. Not saying he will. Not saying he won't. Just that it's still way too early to completely write him off.

    great deal on vickers.

Another CB won't be added, for those who are asking for it. It's going to be a competition between McCain, Kareem, Molden or Allen. Hopefully McCain and Molden can finally come into their own and Kareem has improved...although the limited practices may hurt Kareem.

I'm focusing my attention on linebacker and defensive line depth.

They have a ton of rookies at LB and they are going to need to catch some lighting in a bottle with one of them. I'm also curious about how sharpton will play in the 3-4...I think he can be a solid fill in guy.

D-line...i hope they need to find someone else to rotate in
