Looks like it's pretty much all moved off. But it was damn nice. Love how it's been so dark and rainy the last 24hrs+.

When I was down there (Houston) last week that's all people were complaining about, how hot and dry it was. Are most of you getting the precipitation that is falling around Houston now?

ERCOT asking for voluntary electricity conservation because high temperatures and a downed plant are taxing the system. Spot prices in some places skyrocketing ($3,000/MWh).

This...has gone on long enough, the inside of my car was at a temp of 127 today. probably 110 outside at the time.

I'm not even white and I'm burning like crazy even with some sunscreen.

I'm getting really scared about hurricane season this year. It has been unusually hot for too long.

We may break records for consecutive days of 100+ degree heat in the DFW area... and haven't had any appreciable amount of rain in forever.

I was in Austin this past weekend and Lake Travis was the lowest I've ever seen. Water levels were about 50% of normal, and temps were around 105F. Ridiculous.

Growing up in Houston in the late 80's-early 90's I don't ever remember it being that miserable.

I think 2 years ago we missed the record of 69 days over 100 by 1 day, this year we are on pace to shatter that record.

I do NOT want to get there.

Another day where the high was at least 105 degrees in Austin. I consider myself an old hand at withstanding the hot summers of Texas, but that's when the high temp is around 101, and it's one or two days a week, or maybe 3 days in a row. About 9pm, it was still 101 according to the gizmo in my car. We've had damned near two weeks in a row with highs of 102-105/106. Hell, it could be a longer stretch than that. This ain't normal, folks, or anywhere near normal. WTF is going on?
