until they prove otherwise, I'll expect once again a hopeful beginning, a four-game skid at the worst possible time, 5-and-7, and a strong surge back to mediocrity.

I think the Titans might consider getting in early on the Andrew Luck Sweepstakes.

    I dunno . . . .
couple of weeks to implement a new philosophy
    or
a longer time with a bad philosophy

I think this is a transition year . . . if Kubiak screws this up
Look for THE CHIN next year . . .. why do you think we got a 3-4 guy
The Chin runs a 3-4 . . . . . and we wanna show him we putting the pieces
    in place
    *grin*

    Rocket River

very doubtful considering they spent their first round pick this year on a qb.

I think the writing is all over the wall that if Kubiak fails, then Wade is our defacto new HC.

I doubt Cowher or Gruden would come here having Wade as the DC, they would want to bring their own people.

He's over the top - but I have no issue with putting this on McNair. He's the one constant through all of this; hard to out-and-out defend him. (Though I think any claims of being cheap or not wanting to win are silly. He's made poor decisions but I don't believe poverty or apathy were the motivating factors.)

But for that to happen, the offense is going to have to absolutely tank - which is obviously possible... Otherwise, they've more or less drawn lines in the sand and if they sputter and underachieve and it's NOT the offense's fault... how do you promote Phillips over Kubiak?

My guess is that, barring a total 4-12-like collapse (which, IMO, will lead to a total housecleaning), McNair is prepared to give this staff two years.

We're talking about Bob McNair here. After he retained Kubiak this year, I put nothing past the man.

I said it was the fallback plan, I didn't say it was a *good* fallback plan.

Wade's contract runs longer than Kubiak's, IIRC.

I don't know about Wade's contract status, but I know that McNair keeps calling him a "rock star in this town."

Wade is the next coach if Kubiak is out.

If we suck this year, chances are that it will be because of the defense - not the offense. So why would McNair fire the (glorified) O-coordinator and promote the D-coordinator? Especially a D-coordinator who has such a crappy playoff record (1-5) as head coach? Even he can't be that dumb.

If we suck again this year, Bob will probably either 1) keep everything intact and blame it on the lock out or b) bring in a new HC who will have the freedom to hire his own staff.

But come on..... it's August, the lock out is over, and training camp has just begun. Everyone is undefeated. Hope springs eternal, right? Let's at least wait until the season starts before we completely write it off and start talking about a new coach. LOL.

I'm guessing that 1) no one is getting fired after this year (barring absolute disaster) and 2) after 2012 the defense will have improved just as much, if not more, than the offense regressed during that time (offense is getting old, defense has no where to go but up).

Plus you're forgetting that Kubiak's HC responsibilities include more than just coordinating the offense, he makes really dumb game management decisions, and so far has been pretty bad to sub-par at personnel overall.

Wade's contract runs through 2013, Kubiak's runs through 2012. If McNair is given any reason to fire Kubiak after 2012 (offense regresses relative to defensive improvement, more draft picks failboat, in-game decisions cost us wins, etc), I can't see a situation where Wade doesn't become the HC by default. Will Wade be retained beyond that? Dunno.

up to what other point is there? so you mean nevermind all that past stuff?

Look I am not trying to start a fight with you but you asked me to explain why I can't stand mcnair and I did.

Did you not watch the interview I posted??

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQI4VYb6iGM

mcnair specifically said he was looking at the 1st pick with signability!! signability is a euphemism for cheapness !!We had the first pick and our concern was signability???!!?!?!?! WHERE IS THE OUTRAGE !!

And the hapless cheapo owner can't get a detail right about his pick williams from 'memphis state'??? Are you f-ing kidding me? He doesn't care because it's more a 'oh sh&t I have the first pick, f&ck!! how do I get out of this now??' mentality. sad.

His decision was based on economy, and cheapness and if he wasn't going to have the stones to make the first pick, then he should have traded it away and we could have still gotten williams and our precious pennies in signability. In mcnairs moment he chose signability. That should tell you what it's about, first last and beginning.

Everyone loves to bash adams, and mcnair simply got the stadium lanier wouldn't give adams.

As my 'friend' ric agrees he is the one constant, and when given the option for first pick he has shown what type of a 'class' owner he is.

Good business good for him ,but don't try and tell me we are not debilitated by crap ownership like this. It's our biggest crutch. Unless you are a mcnair teet sucker then there is no reason why you shouldn't at least wonder what kind of BS this guy is supporting and doing. Joke owner begets joke team.

Since the oilers aren't around I guess all I have is the texans, but dammit if I am going to just sit and not say anything.

In my perfect world I want mcnair to sell the team ,and have lanier write an apology letter to adams, along with a small check to buy back the oilers name.

then get in an ownership that is not going to base the number one pick on signability. That is f-ing disgusting.

And oh yeah bring back haywood jeffires (man how I long for those days)

Go texans, the team ,and screw mcnair ,I hope you can live with that? is that okay?

and for those going nuts about williams and him being the man to stop peyton manning, go look at the stats of colts game last year 1 tackle.. That's right 1 tackle !!!

    http://scores.espn.go.com/nfl/boxscore?gameId=301101011

    ARE YOU KIDDING ME !!!

let's not let facts, past history, reality, raised parking paid for by your taxpayer money, and signabilty get in your way guys...

and you dont think reggie bush is not going to be exciting in the wildcat offense in Miami? Say what you want about vince young.. I mean rookie of the year vince young, and running it in from 50 yards out against the texans. True ownage if I have ever seen it.

Is there some reasons to be excited? yeah sure? Im sure hitlers mom was pretty excited too when little adolph was born?

But temper some of that reality with substance, and lets get a few wins under our belts before we start talking like OP and the rest of you. Geez.

It's pathetic, and you mcnair huggers are a joke just like this thread.

I wont be crying if the texans make the playoffs, and I am all for Houston football just not a mcnair tit sucker like you.

STFU and let's let the texans do SOMETHING before you guys start sounding like cowboys fans crying 'superbowl' every year. It's frankly embarrassing I'm sure none of you are out talking sh&t about the great texans at your social gatherings and work.. thanks for building more of that class image that makes 'texans' not look so stupidly arrogant... humility and humidity always were our strong suits..

MAN I MISS THE OILERS AND A REAL TEAM.. THIS SUCKS

but I'll still root for them I'm just not a true fan like you mcnair huggers are
