    That's what I'm thinking too. Its up to the motel and not her employer to make sure the motel is built up to proper construction standards.

    She was probably holding the fixture for support and put too much weight on it. If that's the case, the motel shouldn't be responsible for injuries sustained for misusing their stuff. You can't do chin-ups on light fixtures and expect them to hold.
