Can't confirm this as I didn't hear it but this is from the HoustonTexans.com forum. Apparently this was stated before Rome came on. Link: http://boards.houstontexans.com/showthread.php?t=24040
I think the deal with Warren is he is not as eager to play for the minimum as John McClain made it seem.
If they have signed Vickers I think fans are going to be pleasantly surprised. The guy is much faster and more athletic than Vonta. He's not the same bruiser, but he's still a bruiser. He's not a great receiver but he's better than Vonta. Either way, I hope they do get Casey into the game more this year. He seems like such a waste right now. Lots of talent and really good hands but is hardly used.

As much as I loved Leach, this guy would be much more than just a pleasant surprise.. Hard not to fall in love with his passion, and the clips of him opening up holes for Hillis's monster year are nice too..
I agree 100% I am curious how Peyton Hillis on Cleveland is going to do without just like people wonder about Arian Foster. Both are two different running backs but both are going to get paid decently for blocking for the guy behind them.
LOL.. I thought he said "they fullback is the truth!" either way, i love it.. we gotta get him signed
FTW. Vonta for a FB is a great receiver. Vonta does not drop the pass and quickly runs down hill with authority.
I don't know about you, but I saw Vonta completely muff short passes during his first three years here. He would always try to trap the ball in his chest, and it would end up bouncing off straight toward the ground.
I agree, people are always quick to discount him as a receiving threat, but I always considered him a reliable checkdown option with very sure hands (never really recall him dropping many dumpoffs) then he always got a fair little YAC, but just because he doesn't have big-play, take it to the house ability it seems folks always like to knock him as a receiver (he's a FB people!!)
I like Vickers, lol. He seems like a fun loving cat, but possibly mentally unbalanced... which is great
his first 3 years, as in.. those passes were coming from that frantic, deer in headlights QB? haha jk.. I really don't recall that, I always seemed to have memories of him securing dumpoffs with high reliablity.. shrugs
